the weekend was here and i decided to invite eliza to play baseball with me and my family.
"i hope you know that my athleticism sucks ass," she said in protest, but also lying because she's pretty good at sports.
"well, it's a good thing you're not playing, love."
"right, you all have super-human strength... and i don't."
"exactly." eliza sticks her tongue out at me, making me laugh. we pull up to the field where my family is setting up for the game. her humanity is refreshing...
"eliza, i'm so glad you're here! i need your help keeping them in line," esme says, jokingly.
emmett adds, "she thinks we cheat."
"i know you cheat."
eliza laughs. it's beautiful. "i'll do my best to keep my eye on them."
"you'll cheer me on, right?"
"of course i will, eddie..."
i kiss her on the forehead. "good."
'why does he have to be so hot?'
i smirk at that, getting ready to play. the game goes well for a while before alice freezes, yelling, "stop!... they were leaving but then they heard us playing. you have to get liz out of here..."

carlisle frowns. "it's too late. alice, edward, jasper hide her scent and stand in front of her."

"eddie, it's okay." her words say one thing but her eyes show her fear. her fear of being hunted. of being killed.

three nomads walk forward, but one catches my eye. the one from eliza's story and her mind. james.
the leader speaks up first. "we didn't know there were other vampires in the area." lie...
carlisle puts on a facade. "we have a permanent residence near by... you've caused something of a mess for us."
"the humans were tracking us but we led them east," the redhead says, faking sympathy.
"thank you."
"a few of us were just leaving if you'd like to join us for baseball?"
"i'm the one with the wicked curve ball."
jasper replies. "i think we can handle that."
"this is victoria and james, i'm laraunt, and we appreciate you letting us join."
as the rest of them converse, james is staring at eliza intently... he recognized her scent.
'how did he survive?'
the wind catches in her hair making james feral. He wants her. I'd like to see him try.
"i knew i recognized that scent. too bad the winchester's aren't here to protect you..."
"you got away at the last second, didn't you?"
"of course i did. why do you think they never found a body? or ashes for that matter?"
"you bastard."
"that's not very nice for your last words..."
My family take a protective stance, hissing menacingly.

it takes longer than it should for james and victoria to stand down, but eventually they leave... 'she won't get away this time... i can't wait to see what her blood tastes like... maybe i'll turn her.'
