As we talk of dreams and fairy tales of the past,
Every moment we've spent seemed to last,
And everyday I continued living,
To realize that it's you that I'm missing,
Can you tell me your stories that unfold?
Cause it doesn't seem to get old,
I'm really thankful that you're there,
I'll make it up to you, I promise, I swear,
I'm going to be the glacier of your summer,
The ember of your winter,
The wall for you to lean on,
The harmony in your song,
As we talk of the days that were worse and fine,
That everything I wanted never became mine,
And then you comfort me with the words you say,
Your there for me any minute of the day,
Can you tell me our stories that unfold?
There are some things left untold,
Like you and me became the best,
That every night and day we're together and rest,
I'm going to be light in the darkness,
Help you when you care less,
And I'll make it up to you everyday,
In endless stories of night and day.
I was sitting beside Jane on the steps in front of our college building. The school was pretty empty since it was a Saturday. We, along with other Biology students, were waiting for our ride to the nearby forest where Jane said we’ll just observe the wildlife or something. Quite frankly, I wasn’t excited about this trip at all. I just want to be with Jane. This is the first time we were out on a weekend, and this may be the longest time I’ll be with her. Not that I know how long we’ll observe the wildlife. I thought it was funny because I’ll definitely be observing Jane.
There were only a handful of people who came. Around 9, that already includes me and Jane. I actually know two people from this class, Ricky, my ex’s friend and their biology teacher, Mr. Hollins. Mr. Hollins is kind of popular in school, he is an eco-warrior and implements most of the green-related projects of the university. The other students were strangers to me except the couple about five steps below us. The girl is leaning over the guy and the guy is wrapping his hands around her. When Jane noticed that I was looking at them, she said they’ve been like that since the first day of classes.
Mr. Hollins started checking the attendance. Of course he doesn’t know me so he approached Me and Jane. He asked why Jane needs a chaperone; Jane just laughed and said I’m her bodyguard. He then asked me if I was her boyfriend or something.
“Yes!” Jane said. I was surprised and Jane noticed it. When Mr. Hollins went to continue checking the attendance, Jane said “So that he stops interrogating us”.
“Ohhh yeah, nice!” I replied and I gave her a high five.
Really a high five? This is probably the most awkward moment I have ever had with Jane. And I made it even more awkward. Jane seemed to notice that I’m being awkward. So she just grabbed my hand and for a while we held hands. Suddenly, it’s not awkward anymore. Suddenly I didn’t care.
