It was Friday, dismissal time and the first midterm test is this coming Monday. The school administration remained quiet about what had happened to me. It was wise for them because they didn’t want to ruin the reputation of the school and it was also good for me because I didn’t want to become a hardcore legend.
“You know you shouldn’t be sitting here all alone?” Lisa said as soon as she saw me sitting in one of the huge stairs leading to the school building entrance. Yeah, it was the same place I waited with Jane when I decided to join her for their biology trip. It was also the same day she broke my heart for the first time. But I am over that now. Really, I am. It was finally time to think of what is real right now.
“Hey, are you even listening to me?” Lisa continued.
What is real right now is that Tam is going to have a baby. And I might end up being the stand-in father. I’m the closest guy she has right now and that’s all I ever wanted ever since our first kiss.
“Red? Are you there?” Lisa continued.
I wanted to be with her ever since that day when she was so troubled when no one was there for her but me. I didn’t know if I can make her happy but I will try. But after that night, she disappeared, I made her disappear. I just couldn’t stay beside her knowing she’s deeply in love with that guy.
“Red? Talk to me or I’ll kiss you!” Lisa continued.
When Tam came back, we had our second… then a third kiss. I sleep beside her almost every night, and it feels really warm. I haven’t felt that before. Then Lisa kissed me on the lips.
“What the?! Why did you do that?” I was shocked.
“Oh my, you’re alive! I thought you needed more time in the hospital” Lisa said.
“That doesn’t answer my question!”
“Goodbye Red!” Then she left.
“Did she just use her tongue on me? No… Oh my God, she did!”
“Nice one dude!” I didn’t notice Lucas was actually behind us when all that happened.
“What?! Why didn’t you stop her?” I said.
“Stop a really pretty girl to kiss you? No way man.” Lucas said. Then he started using his phone.
“What are you doing?”
“Texting Mark what happened, this is epic!” Lucas said.
Lucas didn’t lie, Lisa is pretty, but I know if this has happened to me before I collapsed on that fun run, I would definitely pursue Lisa even though she is not my type.
“Do I sound desperate for love right now?”
“What Red?” Lucas replied while he was texting. “Sorry man, I wasn’t paying attention”
Then suddenly Lucas called and he immediately put it on speaker. It was Mark, laughing at first and Lucas soon followed.
“Nice one dude! Imaginary fist bump!” Mark said.
“What the hell!” I said.
Later that night while we are about to sleep beside each other, I told Tam what had happened. She started laughing as well.
“It wasn’t funny.” I said.
“It is funny.” She reckoned then she hit me with a pillow.
“Stop that!”
“What were you thinking anyway? What was Red thinking so hard enough for Lisa to kiss you?”
“Things… Stuff..” I awkwardly said.
“Haha, alright I’ll get off your back” She said. “You know that makes me ahead by 3”
“What?”
“No nothing…”
“Please tell me!” I said..
“Well, Lisa has kissed you once, I kissed you four times.”
“Technically it’s only three for you, the other one was just on the cheek”
“Oh okay, Mr. Technicality, 3.5” She said.
“I don’t mind making it a 4 right now” I said. Then she kissed me instantly on the cheek.
“I don’t mind making it 5…” She proposed.
I leaned in front of her, and she leaned forward as well and we kissed each other passionately. The only down side is that her belly is stopping me from hugging her closer to me.
It was the longest kiss of my life… In fact, I haven’t kissed anyone like this before. The feeling is indescribable, but if I really need to describe it, it would be “unimaginable”.
“So do I get to be your boyfriend now?” I asked as soon as we stopped kissing.
She did not respond… It was a stupid question I shouldn’t have asked. I can’t be her boyfriend. Then I kissed her forehead to try to help get over the awkward moment. When that didn’t help, I asked her another question.
“Tam… I’ll be your baby’s father.”
“But that’s too much!”
“No, I can do it… anything for you Tam.”
“I was planning of putting my child for adoption…”
“No, I can take care of the baby… My mom can help us.”
“I know, but I can’t, I just can’t.” She cried as she put her head on my chest.
“No matter what happens Tam, I’ll always be here for you”
Tam looks up to me and said…
“I love you” and as soon as I tried to reply…
“I lo---“ She kissed me on the lips.
