Present Hannah's POV
"Look, Zach posted!" I exclaimed as I showed Marc my phone.
"Just confess to him already. It's pretty clear that you both like each other."
"But how? Do I just say it?"
"Want to know how I confessed to my b— girlfriend."
"Were you about to say your babe? Marc, you're hilarious."
He chuckled nervously before saying, "I confessed to them on the school's rooftop."
"She probably thought you were going to push her off or something."
"They actually said that," he laughed.
The bus came to a halt and I instinctively grabbed onto whatever I could. I just happened to grab onto Marc's arm. Our eyes met and I suddenly realised something. The way he looked at me when I had short hair was different from when I had longer hair. When I had short hair, he would look at me with this longing look in his eyes. He wanted something. It couldn't have even been me, though. He had a girlfriend. What did he want, then?
"Marc, this is our stop. Lilian Hall isn't too far from the hotel."
"Where's the hotel?" he asked.
"I'll pull it up for the taxi," I yawned. I was really tired. The bus had been driving for a while and I just wanted to sleep.
"Don't fall asleep just yet. The drive to the hotel is about an hour, as you said earlier, right? You can sleep there."
I nodded and got up. To my surprise, the taxi service was having some troubles. I really just wanted to sleep. Why today? I thought. Couldn't the taxi service just wait until tomorrow to have difficulties? And why could the bus just go a little farther? That would've made things so much easier.
"I'm not staying here a second longer," Marc stated, "Come on, Hannah." He took my hand and I blindly followed him. My eyes were shut and I was relying on him to guide me at that point.
"Hannah, do you trust me?"
"We're not going to hitchhike, right?"
"No, there's a bike rental."
"Motorbike?"
"No, bike rental. Like, the thing with two wheels and pedals."
"Is it a two person bike?" I asked. My eyes were half closed and I really just wanted to get to the hotel.
"No, it's not. But you'll hold on, right?"
"I need coffee first. I'll fall off and die if I go on a bike without a coffee or a latte."
"Stay here, I'll buy you one. Don't move."
He walked over to the Starbucks that was near the exit and I closed my eyes. My brother was a pianist. He was in a band. He was a prodigy. He also had mental issues, I think. I mean, I guess that was pretty evident ever since he started running away from home. I knew almost everything by now except two things. Who was my brother's secret lover and did he actually like playing the piano? The piano was the way he displayed his emotions, right? Was it the fame that ticked him off? I think it was the fame and the piano was the trigger. In my brother's diary, there was a page that was ripped out and folded in between two other pages. Apparently, my mother and father had forced him to play in that band. They wanted him to become more famous. They were willing to go as far as paying his way in. The band was under a really big company called 'BR entertainment.' They had scouted my brother and my parents were thrilled about it. But did he end up liking being in the band? I guess I'll never know.
