Naruto, led by Itachi, reached the Hokage tower.
Itachi knocked on the door.
Hiruzen asked them to enter. It was Naruto's first time going to the hokage's office.
Naruto was behind Itachi as they entered the office but when he saw his jiji, he went towards him, "Jiji! ".
To say Hiruzen was surprised was an understatement.
"What are you doing here Naruto? Aren't you supposed to be at the orphanage? " asked Hiruzen trying to understand what was going on.
"Umm... The matron said I was a demon and threw me out..." said Naruto averting his gaze.
Hiruzen was angry, super angry and so was Itachi.
'How can they do something so cruel to a child? ' Itachi thought.
Sarutobi sighed. "What am I to do now. "
Sarutobi then took a brief report about Naruto from Itachi.
Naruto, at the mean time, was looking around the office. He came across the picture of the fourth hokage. He stood there looking at it, his eyes widening every passing second.
Hiruzen, when he saw this, didn't hide the fact that he was surprised. He didn't think Naruto would realize the resemblance.
Naruto turned towards him, "Is there something you would say about this, old man? "
He immediately signalled the anbus to leave and asked Itachi to wait outside.
"I knew you would learn the truth sometime, but not so early. I am sorry but I had no choice but to hide it from you. He is indeed you father."
Naruto looked downcast. He didn't know what to do.
"Why didn't you tell me before? " he asked in a low voice.
"Your father, and your mother as well, had far too many enemies. I was instructed by your father to not tell you about their identities before you were strong enough to protect yourself. I am sorry Naruto. Please forgive me. " said Hiruzen.
There was then a few moments of silence. For Hiruzen it felt like eternity.
Then Naruto finally cut the silence in a low voice still, "What was my mother's name? Did they love me?"
"Oh yes, they loved you, no they adored you and were so excited for your birth. And your mother's name was Kushina, Kushina Uzumaki." Sarutobi said smiling at Naruto as he himself remembered those times.
Again a few minutes of silence.
After that Naruto took out the photo he had brought with him and informed him about what had happened since the day before.
"Do you want to go to your parents' house Naruto?"
Naruto in reply gave energetic nod.
Then Itachi came inside again and Hiruzen thanked him for being there with Naruto. He then dismissed him.
"You ready Naruto. " asked the hokage as he got up and walked towards Naruto and as Naruto nodded he put a hand over Naruto's shoulder and they vanished in a shunshin of leaves.
