𝟏𝟓 : 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫

"Excuse us, excuse me sorry." Mitchy, Vernon and Gladys shuffle through people to get to their seats as Horace Logan introduces Elvis to the audience.

Mitchy's leg started shaking as she waited for Elvis to come on the stage.

Gladys takes notice of Mitchy frantic shaking and the nervous expression slapped across her face. "Poor baby, whats wrong honey?"

"Oh, Mrs.Presley-"

"Gladys"

"Mrs.Gladys....im nervous for him. I know how nervous he was back stage- and before we even got here."

Gladys nods her head. She understood every word out of mitchy mouth, wiping the sweat off her hands onto her dress.

"Micthelle...I know my son and I think you know him too, this music stuff is...it's not something I'm completely approve of , but I know he's going to be great."

Mitchy takes a deep breath and nods her head, just then Elvis enters the stage.

"Oh- here he comes!"

Innocence and glamour shined as Elvis took a stand at the microphone. Although, his pink suit and dark eyeliner made him stand out like a sore thumb.

Mitchy lightly tugs at the baby pin floral scarf over her head, worried about the segregation laws. It's still 1955, remember? The nervousness over comes her as Elvis begins to sing.

"Come back, baby, I wanna play house with you."

"Get off the stage, fairy!" The entire auditorium fills with laughter.

"Aw hell..." Mitchy whispers under her breath.

Elvis stood there, silenced by embarrassment.

"Come on, EP.." Mitchy pump tapped against the wooden floors.

"come on, EP-"

The only thing that was going to throw Elvis' mind was his mama, daddy, and his girl, Mitchy. His leg was shaking like a flag in the wind, but there was no way he would allow these people to make a fool out of him. He wanted to show them was he could do.

"Well, listen to me, baby What I'm talkin about...Come back to me, little girl So we can play some house."

The audience was hypnotized. Especially on girl who stood up and screamed, which took mitchy by surprised.

"Now baby, come back baby, come Come back baby, come.."

Whispers were heard throughout the whole auditorium. Husbands and boyfriends telling their partners to hush and sit in their seats. Elvis was growing into the heartthrob of rock n roll music.

"Come back baby I wanna play house with you.."

Elvis' eyebrow turned upwards as confusion took over his face. Screams  continued to be heard, one after the other.

The dark haired boy turns to his friends Bill and Scotty, the blue moon boys, "What are they holler in' at?"

Bill yells over his instrument, "it's the...wiggle."

"The what?"

"The wiggle!"

Scotty hood into the conversation, "Do more!"

Elvis wiggles his legs and moves his hips towards the audience. Parents and partners were mad, but colonel Tom Parker was amazed. He knew this was his way to the top, Elvis Presley.

Gladys and Vernon were worried out of their minds, while Mitchy sat there speechless. "He's amazing"

Gladys put her hands together and looked up to the heavens, "Please, lord, don't let them hurt my baby!"

Vernon snapped in, "Hurt him? Looks like they wanna do somethin else..."

"VERNON!" his wife slaps his arms.

The crowd went wild, girls started rushing to the stage. Clawing at him.

As the girls pulled at his coat jacket the colonel knew...Elvis was a power he had to withhold. He was his density.

"WHY ARE YOU TRYIN TO KILL MY SON?!"

Gladys pulled Elvis' jacket out of the girls hand, the curtains were swung closed as Elvis was pulled back by Scotty.

Everything happens so fast...Mitchy's mind was racing....and so was the colonel's.

"It was the greatest carnival attraction i've ever seen..."

Colonel Tom Parker stared at the upcoming star from the wings of the stage. He knew that Elvis would become unforgettable.
