After a few minutes of swinging around, Miles and Melody finally made it to the Williamsburgh Bank Building. They walked around the round part of the roof before jumping down to a small gazebo-esque surface, leading out to a small ledge on the end.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, the cityscape underwent a miraculous transformation. It was the golden hour, that fleeting window of time when the urban jungle softened into a scene of ethereal beauty.

Miles, who was behind Melody, broke the silence, "So, have you spoken to your mom since the whole...thing?" Melody scoffed, "No, what would we even talk about? 'Hola, mamá, ¿cómo estás? ¿Todavía crees que soy un monstruo como papá?' (Hey, mom, how are you? You still think I'm a monster like Dad?)"

She then proceeded to take off her mask. Miles did the same. "You know, I think it's best if I told my parents that I'm-" "Don't. At least not yet. Trust me on that one." Melody replied, loosing out her hair and letting it all fall softly down her back. She then proceeded to walk to the end ledge and then walked around it. She sat on the end ledge upside down, staring at the golden pastel horizon.

Miles immediately followed her, but he came down by hanging on a web. He looked at Melody before sitting next to her, "Well, maybe some things are meant for only us to understand." Melody grinned and looked at Miles, "Using my words against me again, Morales?" Miles chuckled, "Hey, listen, it has a different context!" Melody shook her head, still smiling, "That's a nice way to think about it though." Miles shrugged, boasting a bit, "What can I say? My emotional intelligience is BEYOND my years!"

They both looked at the city. "So, what's so special about this place?" Miles asked, still staring. Melody replied, "Well, it's not about the place, it's about the perspective. It's nice to see the world from a different perspective sometimes. Like- how other people would react or think to a certain situation, or something. And honestly, with you here, it makes it a lot better."

Miles' face lit up as she said that last part, "I feel the same way. It's like we have our own unique way of looking at things. But, when we're together, we share one."

Melody nodded, "Yeah, and everyone else may look at us and say we're seeing the world upside down or call us different or weird but... we always see the same thing. We're so different..." Miles finished her sentence, "...but we're the same. In the important ways of course." Melody tilted her head sideways, "What do you mean?"

"It's like- okay. I'm a positive charge, and you're a negative charge; two things that shouldn't work out but they just...do, y'know?" Melody added, "No wonder why we're such good friends!"

Miles sighed and said in his head, 'Yeah...friends. Just friends.'

Melody turned to look at the curly-haired boy who was staring off at the city again. She scooted closer and rested her head on his shoulder. Miles looked down at this and smiled. He brought his right arm around her and moved hair away from her face. He then brought his hand back to him and placed it on top of Melody's, which was touching his leg. They stayed like this for five minutes, staring at the city together and simply enjoying each other's company.

Five minutes later, Miles broke the beautiful silence. "So, I have a question." Melody rolled her eyes and chuckled, "I swear, if it's anything like the one time you told me about the possibilities of you being a cat in another universe-" "Well, kinda, but HEAR ME OUT OKAY?" Melody got up, looked at Miles and sighed, "Fine."

"Do you think...that there's perhaps...variations of ourselves dating each other?"

Melody's heart, mind and soul said 'Yes, hell yes.'

She opened her mouth, "Heh...I don't think so." She supposed that it was the safer thing to say, just in case Miles thought so too. Being rejected by Miles was NOT what she was looking for at the moment.

Miles looked like a hurt puppy after listening to Melody's response. "Wait...why?"

Yeah, seriously, Mel, why?

She tried to make up an excuse, "I-I mean, what are the odds, y'know?"

'Seriously? I couldn't come up with something better than that?'

Miles blinked in confusion, "What are the odds? Bro, what were the odds of us meeting a Spider-Man from the '20s? What were the odds of us meeting an anime spider-girl WITH A ROBOT that SHE built? WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF MEETING A SPIDER-PIG? LIKE- WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF A PIG GETTING BITTEN BY A RADIOACTIVE SPIDER?!" Melody giggled, "Are we really comparing the odds of versions of us dating to Porker's existence?"

Miles laughed as well, "I'm just saying!"

Melody shook her head and turned back around to look at the city, pondering over the question. Miles did the same.

Miles added, "I mean..." He then paused, causing Melody to look at him.

Worst.

Idea.

Ever.

The sun was reflecting so perfectly on his face.

His eyes shimmered in that beautiful light brown color of his.

His freckles were shown vividly.

His lips...

God...

Melody's weakness unfolded in front of her.

It was annoying how perfect he was.

How perfect he was for her.

LIKE HOW ARE YOU MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN A SUNSET IN NYC?

"There's a first time for everything, right?"

As Miles said this, he turned and returned Melody's affectionate gaze, causing her to turn away in embarrassment.

But, he grabbed her arm and made her look at him (he was internally screaming and kicking his feet inside but we don't study that-).

"You were staring."

"So were you, Morales."

"I like the view."

"I..."

Before they could get any closer, Melody got a Spidey-Sense. But, this one didn't hurt. Strange. She saw vivid, live pictures in her head. One being Miles calling her a monster and the other being Miles leaving her all alone. Normally, she'd see pictures of the past, so, what was this? Whatever it was, triggered Melody. She would't go further with Miles. She couldn't. All to get hurt again? No, thanks.

She turned her head away from Miles and moved away, her eyes glued to the city as she played with her fingers. "I...think we should head back.."

Miles furrowed his brows, "Wait, what? Why? We-" "I just- don't want you to get in more trouble. Before your mom gives you three months," she chuckled awkwardly.

Miles sighed, a bit hurt. "Yeah...you're right."

They both got up and went back around the end ledge so now they're not upside down, their movements synchronized.

They swung back in unbroken silence, the air thick with tension, anticipation and unanswered questions.
