Raghav POV
The Queen of Awadh had changed her attire from all bedecked to purely white. My eyes were soaked in tears discerning her condition.
The twins of King Shauryaditya - Prince Ramanaditya and Dharmaditya were crying miserably too. My heart sank deeper looking at the kid's condition.
"My Queen, your husband had put forth a condition before me that my daughters will get married to your sons, and your younger son will inherit Vijaygarh's throne. I accept his terms."
I asserted, standing beside her. I never wanted this, but the man just gave up his life to protect me and his word that was given to me. How could I deny his last wish? Feeling extremely heavy in my head about Chitra, I uttered these words to the Queen of Awadh - Maharani Gayatri Devi of Ratnagiri.
"We have nothing to support you."
She groaned in a throaty broken voice, her gaze remained low and her eyes were constantly shedding tears. They are swollen now. Bhagwati! I never thought of this consequence. I ruined her life within moments.
Maharaj Shauryaditya's body wasn't found. It seemed it was engulfed by the ground. His pyre carried nothing else than his belongings.
"I will still fulfill his wishes because he died battling for me."
I declared, my head held high with pride because I was attending a warrior's funeral. She couldn't even stand. Her sons stood beside her like her shield and the sword. May Bhagwati give them the power to overcome this situation. Suddenly the Queen glanced at me, and my gaze narrowed.
"That enemy of ours. He shouldn't reach Mayura. You claim her before him."
She spoke in a frightened tone, and I raised one of my brows at her words.
"Claim her?" I asked her, being befuddled about this word.
"Wed her. Bed her. Whatever she demands, just fulfill it."
She spoke in a hurry, and my eyes widened with shock. How could she ask me to do such a thing when she has just lost her husband? But there is a tint of fear, restlessness and worry in her voice as if she knew the consequences of Mayura being claimed by Yuddhjeet.
"What? I cannot. I am loyal to my wife, and I practice brahmacharya."
I stated sternly. I cannot give up on my principals to get help from an entity whose name I heard just a day ago.
"Perhaps she won't ask you to marry her. She can demand anything, but that should not be fulfilled by your enemy."
The Queen elucidated me, and stood up as the pyre of her husband was lit by her elder son.
"We are sorry to not being able to support you."
She spoke, and began walking to the pyre.
"No! You can't."
I yelped, standing before him, and she smiled.
"I'm doing it by my will."
She mumbled, and I sucked on my lower lip.
"No! This won't happen under my reign."
I was stern with my words.
"I have no one to live for."
She spoke, tears escaped her lotus petal shaped eyes.
"You have two sons to live for. Mata Kunti also lived for the Pandavas. I know it is a woman's right to decide whether she would live or end her life with her husband, but I request you to live for your sons."
