I woke up kinda late for school, so I rushed to change and brush my teeth, grabbed a croissant, then bounced out the door.
I rode my bike to school and strolled in. Took my seat in class, got my books out, and glanced around, but Val was nowhere to be seen. Jersey was there though, chilling with his friends.
I wondered where Val was, lost in thought, when suddenly someone took the seat next to me. There she was. I looked at her and smiled.
"Heyyy!" She greeted, flashing a big smile and waving before pulling me into a hug.
"Heyyy girl," I replied, returning the hug. Her scent was so sweet and pleasant, and I found myself holding onto the hug a little longer than usual."BTW, you smell so good," I said, smiling.
"Aww, thank you," she replied, smiling back. "Yesterday was really fun, but I'm so tired. I couldn't wake up."
"Me too, I was almost late," I admitted.
But our conversation was interrupted by the teacher hushing us. The class had already started, and we hadn't even noticed. We quieted down until the teacher was done explaining and instructed the class to start the exercises.
After five minutes, Jersey turned around in his seat.
"Hey, you girls got the answers?" he asked with a grin.
"Do it yourself," I shot back, smirking.
"Come on, let's be a team," he teased.
Val shook her head and passed her notes to him.
"That's what I'm talking about," he smirked, looking at me.
I rolled my eyes and whispered to Val, "Can you believe this guy?"
She just giggled, enjoying the playful exchange between us.

It was lunchtime, so I grabbed my bag, searching for money to buy a drink from the canteen because I was thirsty. I glanced around for Val to ask her to come with me, but she was deep in conversation with Toufiq and Jersey in Spanish, so I didn't bother interrupting."Yo, you going to the canteen?" Wiktoria asked.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Me too, let's go together."
We headed to the canteen and grabbed what we wanted before walking over to the table where our classmates were sitting.
I sat down and pulled out my phone, checking my messages to see who had texted me during class. As expected, it was my online friend. We've been friends since late 2020, chatting with each other for two years now, even though we've never met in person. We live not too far apart, but it's been difficult to meet up, especially with COVID making things complicated. Luckily, it seems like things are starting to calm down now. So I hope we will meet up soon.
As I was texting her, Toufiq suddenly grabbed my soda and started shaking it. I looked at him in shock as he laughed and ran away with my drink.
"YAH, give it back! Don't freaking shake it, you idiot!" I yelled while chasing after him. I grabbed his arm, trying to reach the drink, but it was difficult since he's so much taller and his arms are longer. I attempted to pull him to the ground, causing him to lose balance and toss the drink to Jersey. I facepalmed, knowing they would just tease me while I ran after them, so I gave up.
Jersey and Toufiq were laughing while I tried to stay serious and not laugh, hoping they would give my ruined drink back.
"Fuck you too!" I retorted, showing them my middle finger and throwing my bag in their direction.
Jersey dodged it skillfully. "Woah, woah, chill out," he said, side-eyeing me as he walked towards me with his hands up, placing my drink back on the table.
I rolled my eyes as I grabbed my drink. He rolled his eyes back at me, mocking. I stuck my tongue out playfully. Trying to open my drink without spilling, I couldn't resist teasing them by pretending to aim it their way. We all chuckled, enjoying the moment of silliness.
"Where's Val?" I asked, looking around.
"Talking to her sister," Wiktoria pointed out.
Yeah ofc.
Val was popular, everyone knew her, and everyone wanted to talk to her. It was frustrating that I couldn't just chat with her whenever I wanted. How could I get closer to her?"Why would I even try to get closer to her? We're completely different. Would I even be comfortable getting closer to her? She was beautiful, pretty, popular, sweet, and smart, while I was a weird and loud girl. I wasn't pretty like her, and I'm self-conscious. So, will that actually work?" I asked myself, uncertain while looking at her.
The bell rang and we went to the class. The rest of the day, we joked around and laughed until school was over and it was time to go home. I waited for Val, who seemed to be engrossed in another Spanish conversation with Toufiq and Jersey. It felt like an hour as I sighed and glared at the two, but they didn't notice me.
Finally, they were done, saying their goodbyes, and Val and I headed home together.
