It's already 2 pm, and if I had gone to school today, I'd probably be finished by now.
I grab my phone and open my messages.
Val: "OMG, can you believe it, Sar? He said yes! He's coming with us!"
Was she just messing around?
Sar:"Yeah, yeah, sure."
Val:"Don't you believe me? Ugh, just hold on a sec."
After a minute, she sends me a screenshot of their conversation.
Damn, she wasn't kidding. He actually agreed to come with us. Well, that's unexpected.
Val:"Should we head in his direction since we're both pretty close? Then the three of us can catch the metro to the center."
"I'll be by the tree at 11 am. I don't want to miss a single minute, haha. Is that cool with you?"Sar:"Yeah, absolutely! Tomorrow's gonna be a blast!"
Val:"Yeah, seriously! By the way, why weren't you at school today?"
Sar: 😙Lazy.
Val: 😂 Can relate.
After she went offline following her last text, I got up and headed to my closet to pick out my outfit for tomorrow. I usually opted for comfortable clothes over cute or sexy ones, especially since I was a bit overweight.
I grabbed a grey hoodie and paired it with blue jeans, all set for tomorrow.
Back in bed, I scrolled through TikToks until late into the night before finally deciding to call it quits. Setting my alarm for 9am, I powered off my phone and drifted off to sleep.
I groggily wake up to the sound of my alarm, feeling still exhausted. I reach over to turn it off, remaining sprawled out on my bed. Just as I'm about to drift back to sleep, it hits me-I'm supposed to go shopping with Jersey and Val today. With a struggle, I force myself to sit up, realizing how hard it is to shake off the tiredness.
I let out a sigh as I make my way to the bathroom, my eyes still half-closed.
"I should've hit the hay earlier last night. So stupid." I said to myself, groaning. After finishing my morning routine, I headed downstairs to the kitchen to make breakfast. My parents and my little sister were still asleep; there was no shouting or noise. My mom's snoring shook the whole house. It was Saturday, the one day we could all sleep in until noon. So I get it.
After finishing my breakfast, I headed back to my room. Since I still had some time to kill, I grabbed my phone to pass the time more quickly.
After a bit, I got dressed and geared up. Before heading out to meet at the tree, I shot Val a text to let her know I'm on my way out.
I waited until she arrived. After five minutes, I spotted her heading my way. I waved, and she waved back.
"Ha! Looks like you remembered after all," she teased, chuckling.
"Seriously?" I retorted, feigning offense.
"What now? Can't blame me if you've got a forgetful charm," She teased playfully.
"How could I ever forget? Especially when it's with someone as unforgettable as you," I replied with a flirtatious grin.
"Wow, you totally got me with that one," she said, clearly shocked and impressed at the same time.
"What makes me unforgettable in your eyes?" She smirked, questioning.
Trying to keep my cool and not stutter, I said, "Well, have you seen yourself? You stand out in a crowd, shining bright. You're not just kind; you're stunning." I held her gaze, eager for her reaction, hoping I hadn't made her uncomfortable.
Her smile widened into a bright grin. "Seriously? That's incredibly sweet of you. It just made my day," she replied warmly. "And thank you! I adore your lashes; they're so long and lovely," she added, returning the compliment.
I attempted to suppress my grin.
"Okay, no need to feed me lies," I teased, rolling my eyes playfully.
It's hard for me to accept compliments. I'm just not used to it.She giggled, giving me a playful shove as we walked side by side.
"Come on, just accept the compliment," she urged, nudging me again with a grin.
Ignored.
"Seriously though, just take the compliment," she urged, leaning in closer with a coy smile.
"Whatever," I shrugged, shooting her a quick glance before looking away, a playful smile tugging at the corners of my lips.
We made our way to Jersey.
