Chapter 8 - Losing and Gaining

Y/N'S POV
Yesterday was heaven and hell at the same time.

I won against the Canada team...but I got rejected by Evan Morrow..I felt very stupid...

I haven't told anyone about my rejection yet I knew I had to tell Maya at some point she was my bestfriend.

So, right when Maya entered our dorm I said "Hey....uh Maya I gotta tell you about what went down with Evan..."

Maya said "Omg! Did you kiss Morrow?"

I instantly said "Hell, no!"

Maya replies "Then what happened?"

I then proceeded to tell her what happened after my win against the Canada team.

Her smile she had before instantly turned to a understanding and caring look.

Maya said "Listen I never told you but last summer Evan was dating Sofi until the broke up cause they thought they couldn't handle the situation so when we first came to camp this summer Evan said he just was taking a break from dating.."

I replied "Oh.. I understand that I mean he was probably heartbroken from the break up if I dated him I would probably make it worse for him.."

Maya said "Its for the best I'm sure!"

Maya then got up an exited our dorm it left me time to think before practice...

I think to myself maybe Evan rejecting me was for the better of it all I knew now about the whole situation maybe I can forget about him and try to focus on learning hockey more.

Evan's POV
Yesterday I had rejected Y/n well I left her there to cry I knew I messed up real bad shes probably crying into her pillow right now because of me oh how stupid I was.

I look at the letter Y/n wrote me it was wrote so carefully and with love I could tell she loved me and cared about me.

Should I tell someone I rejected Y/n I know who would understand how to help me in this situation, Nick! I mean hes my best friend sure he doesnt have much luck with woman, but I'm sure him moms team him how to handle stuff like this all the time.

I instantly texted Nick and asked him to meet up.

When we met up I told him about how I had rejected Y/n yesterday and about how I dont know what to do.

Nick suggested I apologize and try to remain 'friends' but I did wanna just be friendsi was starting to like Y/n.

So, when it came lunch time I sat beside Y/n.

Gosh she was gorgeous her flowy y/h/c hair and sparkling y/e/c eyes, gosh I could stare for hours and never get tired of her.

I spoke up to her saying "Listen..I'm so sorry about the other night I didnt mean to like upset you and make you sad!"

Y/n looked at me and replied "Its fine, Morrow!"

Was she over me already no way I just started gaining feelings she cant be losing them!

I said "So, you were totally like awesome during the game last night the way you shot that puck was phenomenal!"

Y/n replied with her gorgeous voice saying "Thanks, Morrow! You're also..uh really great at hockey!"

I could tell Y/n didnt know what to say ever sense the rejection.

It was do awkward between us so half the time at lunch I kept my mouth shut so maybe my words wouldn't make her lose more feelings.

At practice she was amazing I could tell she didn't need my help with the way she shot the puck and skated around..damn she was cute.

Most the time at practice I kept my mouth shut again and just stared at Y/n.

Man why did I reject her.

After practice back at the dorms I of course talked to my buddy nick.

I said "Nick...have you ever liked someone before but like dont know how to tell them?"

Nick said "Yeah, I liked Maya last year and she liked me well kinda everytime I liked her she didnt like me but when she liked me I didn't like her it was a on and off situation!"

I said "So, like how do you know if you have feelings for someone"

Nick answers "Well it comes down to the three basic things is what my moms told me!"

I asked "What's the three basic things?"

Nick says "Well number one do you feel like you have butterflies around this person you're talking about?"

I answer "Yes, most definitely!"

Nick then says "Do you think this person is attractive?"

I answer "Yes! Very much a 10/10 on my scale"

Nick then says "Do they make you happy and joyful?"

I answer "Yes..."

Nick then exclaims "Then it's true love bud! Anyways who is this mystery person you like?"

I answer "Y/n, shes gorgeous..."

IM SORRY I HAVEN'T MADE THEM A COUPLE YET I WANT Y/NS FEELINGS FOR EVAN TO LIKE FLOAT AWAY THEN COME BACK😭😭😭🙏
