The Next Day

I was getting ready to go to the movies when suddenly my father walked into my room.

-Eeeeeeeeeeeh," he said with a smirk on his face. "Are you going to see a girlfriend?"

-What are you talking about, dad? She's just a friend...

-Just a friend? Are you sure?

-Well, not really. Let's just say we're in a getting-to-know-each-other phase, or it's an excuse I gave to escape an embarrassing situation I didn't want to face to avoid hurting my best friend's feelings and losing our friendship forever, and now I think I'll have to flirt with her brother so she can forget about me and move on.

-Well, looks like it's my fault for asking. I got lost when you started saying 'getting-to-know-each-other phase'."

-You wouldn't make a good therapist, you know.

-Yeah, that's why I work as a cleanliness critic instead. Instead of listening to people complain, I complain about what I don't like, and everything I say is taken seriously.

-Uh, are you sure it works like that, dad?

-No, but it's close enough. But between us, I've already shut down a restaurant because I had a bad day and also didn't like the chef's face.

-Yeah, keep going like that, and one day if you end up in prison, I'll be asking myself the right questions.

He chuckled at my response and said, -Well, I'll leave you to it, kiddo, and if you ever stay out too late, I'll cover for you. Your mom will never know where you've been."

-Thanks, dad, I said, smiling as he headed for the door.

Finally, I finished getting ready and left the house, taking a taxi.

After 20 minutes of travel, I finally arrived at my destination. As I got out of the taxi, I saw Minnie's silhouette waiting for me in front of the movie theater building, with a young man standing with his back turned, seemingly engrossed in his phone. I walked over to her and greeted her.

-Hey... I hope I'm not late?, I asked, trying to be polite.

-This is my brother, Hunter, behind me. Don't you greet him, Hunter?" she suddenly said to the young man behind her.

He turned abruptly, putting his phone away to greet me.

Seeing his face made my heart almost stop: He was the Junmin's back dancer at the concert last night. I couldn't believe he was Minnie's brother. At the same time, just at the sight of his beautiful face, my heart couldn't help but exceed the speed limit it should normally follow. My eyes remained fixed on his beautiful ones for a few seconds until Minnie's voice interrupted me in my forbidden dreams.

-Minjae? she said, MINJAE.

-Oh, yes, I replied, coming back to my senses.

-What are you thinking about? My brother greeted you, why didn't you respond?"

-Sorry i was....

-Hey, but we know each other, Hunter interrupted me, you're the photographer who took pictures of Junmin the night before during his mini concert."

-Oh... uh... yes," I timidly replied.

-Well, I'm glad you two know each other; it'll be less awkward. So, what's up, Minjae? You look uncomfortable," she suddenly asked, "if it's because of my brother's presence, don't worry, he promised he'd stay discreet today."
