(CHAPTER 1)

8:00 AM, Tuesday, September 26th (Eddie's POV)

"Can someone tell me the year of the Boston Tea Party? Anybody? I wanna see hands!"

Mrs. Winston was always too energetic, too early in the morning. Eddie never got how she only survived off of seemingly two or three cups of coffee a day. But maybe that was just the nocturnal part of him talking. As about six hands shot up around him, he could only focus on the boy sitting in front of him. His perfect hair seeming to shine in a way Eddie thought was only possible in ads.

Steve Harrington had only joined the school that year, not really talking to anybody and not really looking like he wanted to be there in anyway. Though, he did manage to make a few friends in Robin Buckley, Dustin Henderson, and the group of kids that followed with them. While you would think the loner would be an outcast, he was turning out to be pretty popular amongst the students of Hawkins High. You rarely saw him smile unless he was around certain people. Everyone thought that he was some sad, basket case who you should be careful getting close to. But not Eddie.

Though he has kept his distance thus far, the vamp thought Stevie seemed interesting. Mysterious enough to catch his attention pretty early on. Add him being super hot and seeming to be a kind parent figure the younger students, and you have yourself a new crush. Eddie had been waiting to make a move, and somehow, he's picked this fine morning to do so.

Once the bell rang, he watched as Steve got up and swung his bag over his shoulder. Eddie slipped out the door just behind him. But he got too close to his crush. He bumped into his back, knocking a few books out of his hands.

"Shit! My bad, Harrington, sorry," he said, quickly picking up two books and a pencil. Their hands brushed for just a moment, but he didn't let that distract him. They both stood up, Eddie quickly handing Steve his stuff back.

"Thanks... um..."

"Munson. Eddie Munson. Nice to meet you."

Eddie put his hand out, for what Steve probably thought was a handshake, but once he placed his hand into the vampire's he caught Steve off guard by giving a kiss on the hand instead. He looked up at him, a wide smirk settling on his face. He straightened his back, letting go of Steve's hand.

"Well, I hope to see you around, Stevie. Bye!"

Eddie walked off, his smirk turning into a huge grin spreading across his face, dimples prominent with an added bright pink blush on his face.

8:30 AM, Tuesday, September 26th(Steve's POV)

As Eddie walked off, Steve felt frozen in place as he stared at the boy, his gaze slowly going down to his ass. There was a black bandanna and hand cuffs hanging from his back pockets. His jeans were tight... But he shook his head to snap himself out of it. What was he doing? Was he checking him out? No. Definitely not. That would be weird. Because he was straight. Steve Harrington liked girls.

He quickly walked to his locker, seeing Robin already getting her stuff from hers, right next to his. Once he got there, he put his stuff away and got his biology textbook out as quick as he could so he could talk to Robin.

"Buckley! The weirdest thing just happened to me after Human History," he said, all in one hasty breath.

"Ok? What happened? And slow down, if you do that again, you're gonna pass out."

"So, I was talking to your friend, Eddie-"

"Wait- why were you talking to Eddie?"

"He bumped into me- not important, anyway..."

He paused for a second before continuing, thinking of the perfect words to describe this interaction.

"He helped me pick up my stuff and I thanked him but I didn't know his name. So I asked. And he told me. And he put his hand out and I thought he wanted to shake hands but then he kissed my hand. And now I'm freaking out but I don't know why I'm freaking out. Because he like, smirked in a weird way or something? Or maybe the black bandana and handcuffs in his back pockets? I really just don't know anymore..."

Robin paused for a moment to make the "how dumb are you..?" face at Steve for a little bit so she could take all of this information in. He was just super confused. And wondering why the hell she was looking at him like that?

"What?" he said, closing his locker.

"Do you not get what flirting is?" she replied, walking off before he rotted her brain any further with his stupidity.

Steve just stood there for a bit, dumbfounded by what Robin had said. He knew what flirting was. He flirted with girls all the time. But Eddie wasn't flirting with him. Steve had never had that happen to him and had never done that to anybody. So it wasn't flirting. Robin was just reading the situation wrong. Or maybe he told the story wrong? He had only said what happened...

He was snapped out of his crisis when the final bell rang, signaling that he was late for class. He ran to class, hoping that nothing too important was happening in biology that day. Once he got there, he found his seat in the back of the class, out of sight and in the shadows. Steve did pay attention in class, but he preferred to stay in the back and out of the spotlight, if he could avoid it. Last time he was the center of attention, it didn't end well...
