3:23 PM Tuesday Oct. 8th (Steve's POV)
As Steve and Eddie entered the trailer park, Steve almost jumped out of his seat and crashed the car because a fucking dog was barking as loud as it could at him.
Eddie was just as bothered, but he seemed more used to it than Steve.
"Is this a common occurrence..?" he said, trying to keep his eyes on the road.
"Yeah, that dog annoys the shit out of me. But it's 'unethical' to kill it for a quick snack." Steve couldn't see Eddie's hands but he was sure about the air quotes around unethical from his tone. He laughed, thinking about putting that rat out of its misery.
"Well, here you are. Call me? Or text me, whatever's good." Steve said as he got out of the car, Eddie doing the same. Steve went around to Eddie's side, his back leaning against the car.
"'Course Stevie, why else would I have your number?"
He kissed his hand, staring deep into his eyes for a few seconds before walking away, not turning back again. Steve felt his sharp fangs against his hand for just a second and it was driving him crazy.
How could he just do something like that so lightly? Did he know what he was doing to Steve? Nothing and everything made sense at the same time when Steve was around him, from the way he grinned and moved, to how his hands felt on Steve's back, his lips on his hand. God, Harrington was down bad.
Eddie had to know what he was doing.
Steve thought more and more about him as he drove home, all his blood rushing to his face and... other places.Steve flopped down on his bed, scrolling through his notifications. A text from Robin asking about the homework, Dustin asking the party group chat when they were gonna have their next session. How did I get added to that? Steve thought as he closed his messages.
He lied on his back, staring at the ceiling and again thinking about Eddie. Steve couldn't get him out of his head. His hair, his fangs, his grin, his soft hands, his small waist and tight jeans. The bandana and handcuffs in his back pocket. Every detail was vivid in Steve's mind when his phone started ringing in his hand.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Harrington. Miss me?"
Eddie's voice sounded deeper on the phone than in real life, which Steve didn't mind one bit.
"Wow, a call. Going old school? Are you gonna ask me out and promise my father to have me back by 9:00 sharp?"
"Naw, I'm not one to lie to my future in-laws."
Steve could hear the mischievous smile in Eddie's voice as he replied, clearly very pleased with himself. It made Steve's insides feel warm and fuzzy.
"My parents aren't around much anyway. They're always away for work or something. They love me though, I know it."
The call fell silent and Steve could almost see the most rare expression for Eddie force itself on his face, a frown.
"Oh... that sucks man, sorry. I forgot how much you said they were away-""It's-it-... it's fine."
Steve could feel the hurt rising in his chest, but he fought to keep it down. He didn't need to cry over the phone to Eddie about his mommy and daddy issues. The last time he seriously talked about that to someone was to her and, well-
Steve didn't want to think about her anymore."Um, so, Munson, why did you call me in the first place?"
"Ah, yes! Well, our dearest lesbian Robin is throwing a party, monsters and freaks only, at her house. I was gonna ask if you wanted to come? And if you could drive me?"
Steve considered. He hadn't gone to a party in a while. Plus, he knew who was hosting and he knew that the whole group would probably be there. It didn't seem like a totally horrible idea. Not the worst one he's ever had.
"Yeah, sure. What time is it?"
"She texted everybody it was at 8, so we should get there at 9."
"Oh, right, you're supposed to go an hour after they say…"
"Yeah, I still don't personally get that. Like, why can't you just tell me what time you actually want me to come."
"Exactly!"
This got a chuckle out of both of them, lightening their mood.
"Ok then, I guess I'll see you then?"
"Um, yeah, for sure Stevie! You could also come a little earlier if you wanted. Whenever you want."
"Alright, will do. Bye, Eddie."
"Bye, Steve."
I think that's the only time that he's used my real name. Or ever sounded serious…
