─── ∙ ~εïз~ ∙ ───since gioia was in the bathroom and fred was smoking a drag on the other side of the connivence store, johnny had lost both his translators and managed to allow the dodge caravan to get towed. while johnny and his son were participating in some chilli pepper competition - for money to pay the tow truck guy, gioia and her dad went out for a quick meal.
"you sure you're all right?" johnny glanced into the rearview mirror to look at his son.
the two had surprisingly won the competition and paid back for the car. now they were driving to where carmen had told them hector salazar might be.
robby was chugging down the pint of milk fred had brought back for him. he removed the chill beverage from his lips and cleared his throat. "never better."
"yeah, i still don't know how you managed to eat that last chili." johnny shook his head.
robby smirked, reaching into his pocket. "i didn't." he leaned forward and displayed the perfectly intact red savina.
"what were you chewing on then?" johnny questioned, confused.
robby pulled out the bag of mexican candy that johnny had bought the two teenagers. they all laughed, entirely impressed by robby's scheming.
"that's genius." fred grinned. "now i wish i was there."
gioia frowned. did he regret taking her out for a meal?
"that's gonna make for a hell of a story." johnny smiled. "that's about the most badass thing i've ever seen." johnny's flip phone began to ring out, and the man quickly grabbed it and placed it to his ear. "carmen?"
"i don't think you should be on the phone while driving." gioia spoke up. "especially since we nearly crashed before."
"shut up, sushi!"
"hm." she frowned, slouching back into her seat.
"are you actually allergic to seafood?" robby questioned.
"of course she's not-" fred began with a laugh.
"actually, i am." gioia cut him off, an utterly broken look on her face. "johnny's called me that since our first lesson."
fred furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, he thought she wasn't allergic to anything. such a shitty father move. it was as if the whole trip had been for nothing. what if he had taken her out to a seafood restaurant instead of the burgers they enjoyed before? how could he not know what his only child, his daughter, was allergic to? the man turned back and faced the front, disappointed with himself.
