gioia stepped into the dojo with a wide smile on her face. hawk had told her that he had a surprise for her and she was extremely excited to see it. when she arrived, she saw mickey and hawk arguing near the entrance, supposedly waiting for the girl to show up.
mikayla looked as beautiful as always, her hair pinned back into a messy bun. and hawk... hawk looked different. gioia's eyes widened at the sight of her boyfriend. she didn't know how, but he now had red and white pieces attached to his blue hair. and as if that wasn't enough, there were white stars littered around the blue section.
hawk looked over and grinned at the sight of the blonde. "oh, hey baby. surprise!" gioia forced out a laugh, "wow! i am super surprised!" she nodded. mickey snickered at her words, having predicted the way she would react.
"holy shit." wyatt started, a wide smile on his face as he approached the trio. "dude, your hair looks wicked!"
"see, someone gets it!" hawk exclaimed, pulling wyatt into a handshake and then pulling him into an embrace. wyatt nodded. "i don't just get it, i dig it." he continued.
"you're the best, man." hawk said with gratitude. mickey raised her eyebrow at the interaction, surprised that the two were able to get along so well.
"at least one person likes your hair, hawk." mickey taunted. hawk scoffed at her words, "that's not true. gb likes it." he turned to his girlfriend, "you like it, don't you?" he questioned.
gioia cleared her throat. "i-i... i like you?" she said, nervously. hawk knitted his eyebrows with confusion. "no, that wasn't the question—"
"right." she nodded. "well, you know i like things that are different! and this is definitely different."
"you could get red, white and blue highlights." hawk suggested, making mickey laugh out. he gave her a look of irritation before turning back to his girlfriend. "and i could buy you some more of those star clips that you love."
gioia forced a smile on her face. "that's an interesting idea. can i get back to you on that?" she requested. hawk nodded, "yeah, of course." he smiled.
"come on, let's get you changed." mickey said, pulling the girl away from them. once they were out of earshot, gioia sighed. "you let him do that?" she questioned.
"me?!" mickey exclaimed. "he's your boyfriend!"
"you're his friend." gioia reminded her. "i support his decisions while you call him out for picking the wrong ones."
