-Melody-
It was only a day until our audition, and I was dying inside. I was scared, the what ifs flooding my mind. What if I'm not good enough, what if I don't make it, what if, what if, what if. Harry was trying to convince me otherwise, but I wouldn't listen. What if I mess up, what if I freak out, what if, what if, what if. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I've seen several episodes of X-Factor, and according to what I saw, Simon is a vicious judge. What if I can't do it, what if Simon doesn't like me, what if, what if, what if.
"Melody, you should get some sleep. You need to be rested for tomorrow," Harry said, shattering my thought process. I nodded and crawled into my warm bed. Sleep didn't come for a while. My head wouldn't stop buzzing. The what ifs continually going through my head. When sleep eventually did come, it was short. I got at most 4 hours of sleep before Harry was shaking me awake.
"Haz, give me 10 more minutes," I mumbled.
"No, I had to get up without an extra 10, so do you," he whined. I pulled the duvet back over my head, and groaned. I got maybe 30 seconds of peace, when the duvet was thrown to the side, I was effortlessly thrown over Harry's shoulder.
"Harry!" I protested. He carried me into the bathroom and set me in the tub. I didn't realize what he was doing until he turned the water on, soaking me through my clothes in the cold water. It woke me up instantly, hopping out of the tub.
"That ought to wake you up," Harry chuckled. I slapped him on his arm and turned the water to hot. I shooed him out and took a nice shower. When I got out, I looked to see he'd chosen me an outfit. It consisted of dark skinny jeans, a Rolling Stones t-shirt, and a pair of red Vans. I put on the clothes and topped it off with a little eyeliner, and a red beanie. I walked out to see him, sporting a white t-shirt, dark jeans, and a grey blazer.
"You look nice," he said with a grin. We left the flat and got into the old car we share. We drove to the studio in silence. Today was the day. We made small talk in line, but that was it. He was called up before me, but I was next.
"Good luck Harry," I called after him. He turned and smiled. I waited a few minutes and then I was called up.
"Hello love, what's your name?"
"I'm Melody Griffin."
"What'll you be singing?"
"Sweeter by Gavin Degraw."
"Let's hear it then." I hesitated a second, brining the mic to my lips. I thought of Harry, his encouragement. The what ifs had disappeared, and in their place was confidence.
"Sometimes I wanna take, someone else's holiday. Sometimes the grass is greener, and someone else's sugar, someone else's sugar, sweeter!"
"That's lovely, thank you. You'll receive your letter as soon as auditions are over." I walked off the stage and ran to Harry. He took me in his arms and hugged me tight.
"I was so scared Harry," I whimpered.
"It's alright, I'm sure you did great."
Ok, guys I don't know how X-Factor works, I never get the chance to watch it, so if this is inaccurate, bear with me.
