That night, on Chick-a-Pin Hill, Patty was walking back to Brer Fox's cave with Jeremy and the Brers.

"Thanks, boys, for giving Ross a second chance" said Patty.

"Thank you for putting in the hard work in training him" said Jeremy.

"It was easy. Ross paid close attention and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results" said Patty.

When they got to the cave, they saw that it was destroyed and Ross was chewing on Brer Fox's pillow.

"Did you train 'im ter destroy ma lair? Cuz dat ain't real pleasant" said Brer Fox.

Patty picked Ross up. "I'm sorry, Brer Fox, but it was Ross's first day of school. It took me a whole month just to learn my ABDs."

This was no longer an excuse to Brer Fox. "Sis Patty, I has had it."

"Me too. We can't live like diss no mo!" said Brer Rabbit.

"Ross has to go" said Jeremy.

"Fine" Patty cried. "But if Ross has to go, I'm going with him."

She started to exit the cave. "We're goin'. We're almost there."

No one responded.

"I can't believe you're gonna make us sleep out there on the cold hard ground" said Patty.

"F'ya wanna bed, you can 'av mine" said Brer Fox. "By de way, doze sheets used ter be white."

"Cold hard ground it is" said Patty.

Meanwhile, in the Laughing Place, Brer Bear was rummaging through his club collection.

"F'I's gon' beat Brer Burt, I needs ma lucky club" he said.

Then he hid when Chad and Burt came back.

"Burt, I need to talk to you about Brer Bear. I need a big favor" said Chad.

"Sure. Anything for a friend" said Burt.

"Thank you. Burt... I need you to let Brer Bear win that beanbag competition" said Chad.

"No way" said Burt. "There are two things I don't do. Lose and talk to Adam West about my wife."

"But you already have so much more than Brer Bear" said Chad. "You're cool, popular, athletic, intelligent..."

"What's your point?" said Burt impatiently.

"I'm worried you're too good for Brer Bear to beat. And this record means so much for his self esteem" said Chad.

Burt took that into account. "Well... I hate to lose. But I really like Brer Bear. And I do wanna see him get his own plaque."

"So do we have a deal?" said Chad.

Burt sighed. "Alright. I'll let him win."

Brer Bear came out of hiding with an angry look. "Hey! I heard ev'rything ya jus' sed! Brer Burt, ya don't hav ter lose on puppus. Cuz I quit! An' Brer Chad... I thot ya b'leev'd in me!"

Chad looked down. "I feel horrible."

"Me too" said Burt.

Just near Chick-a-Pin Falls, Patty was petting Ross and singing to him.

"Go to sleep, my sweet baby boy. Chase a squirrel; they're nature's chew toy" she sang.

Then she kissed Ross goodnight and drifted off herself.
