Spring, 2012 - current timeline

SCHOOL WAS ONCE AGAIN BACK IN SESSION and, unsurprisingly, Mirinae was in the same class as Daichi and Sugawara for the third time.

For the last time.

As she waited for her two classmates to arrive from their morning practice (she took note that they were later than usual today), Mirinae found herself lost in thought as she considered the school year ahead of her.

She was now in her third and last year of high school. She'd go to college next year, and she knew that there was a possibility she'd leave the country for her post-secondary education.

Back home.

"We just had to have a chaotic practice to start the year. Geez." The sound of Daichi's voice took her back to reality. Mirinae watched as he walked to his usual seat in front of her and plopped down, ruffling his hair in clear exhaustion.

Sugawara, following suit, sighed as he slumped against his own desk behind her. "Tell me about it," he agreed.

Her brows raised. "Something happen in practice yesterday?"

"Remember how before school ended last year we went to the junior high regional matches to see any promising players?" he asked and she nodded.

"Well, these two kids in particular had a match against each other early on, one from a powerhouse school and one not," Daichi continued, "and long story short, the one from the powerhouse school beat the other pretty badly. The beaten one was determined to win against his opponent in high school... only to find out today that they're both in the same one. Here. It was absolute chaos."

The gray-haired setter bent down and whispered to her, "Let's just say that the vice-principal's toupée was involved. They knocked it off with a volleyball." Her mouth dropped open.

The captain nodded, seeing her reaction. "...yeah. I had to put a stop to their nonsense, so I banned them from joining until they could learn to work together," He finished, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"...wow." She blinked at the weight of the information that was given to her.

For some reason, something told her that this school year would be like no other.

A few days later, talk of their futures was the topic of discussion amongst their classmates, and it brought Mirinae back to their first day, when she was having similar thoughts regarding what would come next.

It clouded her mind so much to the point that for the entire morning, any information entering her ear simply went out the other. Once lunchtime arrived, she abruptly told her two classmates that she would join them later, in order to sort out her raging thoughts, not noticing the worried looks they exchanged.
