Chapter 3: The Great Escape pt. 1

Mira pov:
Those kids didn't look scared at all. In fact, they looked angry. I watched as they both stood tall. Marcus cracked his knuckles and looked at Akua, but she looked at me. She said "I know you don't believe what they're doing is right. Please. Help us." I just looked back at her in shock. I realized these kids have the strength to do something I've been struggling to for years...stand up for themselves. These kids don't deserve what my family has put them through. I nodded at her and turned to Jin. "Let me do it." He smirked at me and handed me the whip. I gave the kids a look then used the whip on Jin instead. "GO KIDS! RUN NOW!" I screamed.

3rd pov:
Akua and Marcus waisted no time in getting out through the back door. They sprinted towards the castle hoping the younger ones stuck to the plan.

Start of Flashback:
2 years ago: "Do you guys ever think we'll get out of this mess?" asked Yasmin during their meal break. Alex sighed, "We have to, otherwise we'll die in here." " Well if we do escape where would we even go?" Jay asked. Everyone was silent for a bit. Finally, Akua spoke up "Let's make a plan." The escape plan was that once Akua used the signal, "r-u-n", whoever was able, would sprint as fast as they could towards the castle. That way if the Cheng's were to chase them, they'd hopefully be spotted by the guards. The castle is also closer to the festival's and markets, so while escaping they'd be able to purchase what they need for their journey. The only issue was, in order to get out of the kingdom and make it to the woods, you had to go through the castle.
End of Flashback:

Alex, Jay, and Yasmin all ran through the front door and down the road trying to escape with Bo, the faster of the twins, hot on their trail. It was already late and the dimly lit streets made it very difficult to make out which way to go.  Yasmin saw a poorly lit alleyway coming up on the left and waved down Alex getting his attention. "Get Jay!" She yelled.  Alex looked to his right and tried to reach for Jay, but Bo took the opportunity to jump between them and grab Jay himself. "NOOOO!" Yasmin screamed as she stopped running contemplating if she should go help him or not while Alex sprints to the alleyway and pokes his head out to see what's going on. "Keep going!" Jay yells, "I'll be okay!" Yasmin gave him a nod, then ran to meet Alex and the two of them took off down the path leaving Jay with Bo.
