3rd pov

Akua wakes up and stretches looking over at the clock on the wall that read "8:00am". Her body was sore from all the work she did yesterday. She slowly got out of bed and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth, takes a shower, and get ready for her dreadful day at work. She put on a plain black long sleeve and some black leggings and pulled her locs into a low ponytail. Once she finished up in the bathroom, she headed downstairs to have breakfast and saw her dad eating at the table. "Good morning dad" she said as she walked past him to the cupboard to grab some cereal. He looked up at her and replied with a pitiful smile watching her prepare her breakfast. He knew sending her to that house just for money was wrong, but they weren't able to buy food, or clothes, or even soap before, so he felt that this was the best option. They ate in silence and once Akua was done she got up, washed her bowl, and headed to the door to put her shoes on. They were old, worn out combat boots, but they got the job done. She looked back at her dad one last time and waved goodbye to him before heading out the door.

When she finally reached the Cheng family's house, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes to mentally prepare for the events of the day. When she felt she was ready, she knocks three times signaling that it was her to the two brothers Bo and Bodhi. The brothers open the door and nonchalantly greet her as she walks in and looks around. " What does Jin have planned for us today?" She asked. The two brothers didn't say anything, they just looked at each other and smirked. Then Bo takes Akua to the kitchen where she sees what looked like a large defibrillator leaning against the counter. "What is that for?" Akua asks while taking a step back. Bo looks at her and smiles "it's what you'll be using today". Bodhi notices the look of uneasiness on Akua's face. "Well if you don't wanna do that...you could do something else" He said sinisterly. "Something else like what?" She asked. Bodhi then gestures to the hammer and nails on the counter then looks at her. "We need to test pain tolerance today. We were gonna use Jay, but you can switch with him if you want since you're testing the same senses." 'Wait...they were going to use a hammer and nails on Jay just to test pain tolerance?!' Her thoughts raced as she realized what was going on. "No." She mumbled while looking down. "Huh?" Bo asked. She looked up at both of them, her fists so tight her arms began to shake at the thought of what her cousin would have to endure. "I said NO!" She turned on her heel and ran as fast as she could out of the kitchen. She got down the hall and was just inches from the door before she felt herself being grabbed by someone. She slowly looked up and was met with Jin's eyes glaring daggers into her own. "Where the hell do you think you're going?!" Just then, there were three knocks on the door signaling it was the other kids. Jin let go of Akua's arm dropping her on the floor and made his way towards the door. When the door opened, the four kids saw Akua's state and went to go check on her. She gave Marcus a look which let him know it was going to be rough. None of the kids had any idea the type of day they'd just walked into.
