I stepped outside and breathed in the cool, fresh air. Placing my hands in my jean pockets, I started to walk towards the main street, where I was perhaps more likely to obtain any information. I made my way across the now wet pavement, deliberately stepping in the small puddles which had began to form from the raindrops which were now pounding down on my head. A small dose of fooling around was all I required at that very moment.
And, actually, I didn't really care about the fact that I didn't possess an umbrella, no. You see, angels don't, can't, get wet; we are unaffected, immune, if you like, to water...
So, I was relieved that I could not become drenched, but at the same time disappointed, as this immunity could only draw attention to me in this large human city.
My desire to remain inconspicuous led me to a smaller street, where only a few people passed me by and didn't bother to look twice. I noticed that everyone was in a rush. Including me.
************
After two hours of wandering around in small streets which led to absolutely nothing, I propped myself on a park bench and did the logical thing to do: I took out Francesca's mobile and searched through her contacts. If I could find one of her relatives' address, maybe I could ask them if they knew where Francesca might be.
Wait a minute... Francesca's relatives weren't even on Earth. As I realised this, memories of her recalling her past to me came flooding into my brain and I knew I was once again hopeless.
Only one question was on my mind: What to do now?My so-called 'plan' had been impulsive and reckless. It had failed and here I was, 2 hours later, with nothing. I hoped that León had been able to find something, because I knew that I wasn't going to be able to get any closer to finding Fran today.
***************
I remained on this particular bench for quite some time, observing young couples having picnics and a few parents playing around with their children, catching frisbees or kicking footballs, rejoicing after a goal was scored. This, I thought. This is what I want. I don't care about being an angel anymore; I just want to be normal. No complications, no mysterious disappearances-just happiness.
I leaned forward and rested my chin in my hands out of boredom. I could stay planted here for the rest of my life, for all I cared.
As I started scanning the park's playground for the second time, a certain dark-haired woman caught my attention. My heart began to pound in my chest, threatening to demolish my lungs. Was the woman Francesca?
I didn't want to come to false conclusions about this woman- after all I'd been through, I didn't think that I could've withstood the disappointment of her being just another random woman.Making sure to keep my hopes low, I approached her, fully aware that I could be gravely mistaken about her identity. I also crossed my fingers, wishing with all my heart that this time, I had truly found Francesca for good.
My wish, unfortunately, was not granted. However, the woman who stood in there was not unbeknownst me.
I stood frozen, flabbergasted.
"Natalia?" I inquired.
Her eyebrows furrowed and a look of confusion tainted her face.
"V-Violetta?" Was all she could say in reply.
*********
Now that I had reunited with Natalia, all I needed to do was find out how this old friend of mine had arrived on Earth.
-And, who knows, she might even know a thing or two about Francesca...
*************
A/N: Just wanted to precise that Naty has the same kind of hair as Francesca in this story (this explains why Vilu confused her with Fran). I hope the makes sense so far :/
Also, for people who are wondering when the Leonetta part will come, don't worry. You have to wait as the story unfolds- I promise you there are many cute & fluffy Leonetta moments on the way.
