I impulsively grabbed León's arm, pulling him towards me as I marvelled at the sight in front of me. My eyes were fixed on a queer, almost diamond-shaped house. It was clear to me that its walls had once been painted white, although the colour had progressively faded to a dull, yellow-ish colour over the years. The roof was even missing a few tiles, and one window had been smashed; the glass was lying in the long, uncut grass which stood on the rocky ground below. (A/N: Wow, that was a lot of description, wasn't it? )

Overall, this house had a very eerie vibe to it that could not possibly go unnoticed by any normal person like me. As I tugged at my partner's arm once more, I awaited his reaction with impatience.

"So?" I questioned, yearning for a reply.

"So what?" He asked, dumbfounded.

"So... What do you think about this house? Wanna look around, see if there's anything interesting?"

He remained confused, but nevertheless nodded, giving me his consent.

"Ok, if you insist..." He mumbled, his voice lacking enthusiasm.

He was really starting to exasperate me.

"Don't be so... Boring, León," I started, moaning slightly as I complained.

"I'm certain this house is hiding some secrets from us. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to tr-" My sentence was cut short when I saw a flash of dark hair by the broken window of the house. Francesca's hair, to be precise. I was fairly sure that I could recognise it from a mile away. Unfortunately for me, it was gone the minute I had caught sight of it. Had my mind played a trick on me? I surely hoped not...

Barely able to contain my excitement, I almost shouted "I saw her! I saw Fran, León! I'm telling you that I SAW HER! Let's go! Come on, you lazy ass! Let's go inside!" to my perplexed partner, urging him to follow me into the rather creepy house standing in front of us.

I never obtained any response whatsoever from my brown-haired companion. But I didn't care. I didn't care at all, in fact, because I was certain that our search for Francesca was about to come to an end. Of course, back then, I wasn't aware of how wrong I was...

Anyway, I dragged León into the house, pushing the unlocked door open, not once pausing to look behind me. I didn't have time for second thoughts. Upon entering the building, I ran into the kitchen, flinching each time I heard the floor creaking underneath my feet. Seeing that there obviously wasn't anyone in there, I moved on to the mini-lounge, where, once again, all I saw was a deserted room, with broken furniture and at least a dozen spider webs.

"Let's check out the first floor, I think that's where she was when I first saw her," I said to León, who looked positively exhausted. I realised that he was probably questioning my sanity at this point, but I didn't have the time to ponder this for much longer, or I would lose track of Fran. I forced myself to push the thought to the back of my mind and hurried up the flight of stairs.

When I stepped onto the first floor, I immediately knew that something was wrong. Where I stood, lay a broken porcelain vase, decorated with golden spirals on either side of it. A beautiful mess.

I decided to leave it there, not wanting to risk injuring myself. I then dodged the broken pieces of porcelain and entered the first bedroom on the right.

Although the room was vacant, it was clear that someone had been in there not long before me. Maybe even only an hour ago. The bedsheets were ruffled, placed on a heap on the bed, and a half empty (A/N: yes, I'm a pessimist...) glass of water stood on the old, wooden bedside table. I also noticed a small, red 'Jansports' backpack which was lying on top of the cupboard. Feeling strangely curious, I pulled the backpack off the piece of furniture and immediately opened it, revealing the contents of the bag. I was disappointed. There were merely a few elastic bands, along with an old plastic sandwich packaging from a place called 'Tesco'.
What a bizarre name, I thought. I was still getting used to living on Earth, and many things were still unknown to me. I made a mental note to ask León about this 'Tesco' thing later on, and zipped up the bag. However, as I put it back to its original position, I heard a faint clinking sound, almost like glass was hitting the surface of the wardrobe. Feeling audacious, I checked the backpack one more time, this time digging deeper into the bag. My fingers brushed across what seemed like a small bottle, and I instantly snatched it out of the backpack. I was immensely shocked to find a bottle identical to the one that the guard from the Heavens had given me, upon my arrival on Earth. An invisibility potion for wings.

My jaw dropped as I turned it over and over again in my hand. This was Francesca's. She really had been here. I wasn't just imagining things...

A/N: ok, so I'm really sorry guys for not updating for about 3 weeks. I'm really bad. But now I've decided to get back on track and regularly update this book. I'd just like to ask why I've been getting less and less votes and comments. Is it because I'm updating too rarely? Is the story getting boring/confusing? Do I write badly? Please tell me what you'd like to see because I feel like you're losing interest in this book...

So... do you think they'll find Fran in the house? Or not? And where did León go? Comment your opinions! :) Also this chapter was edited very quickly so sorry for any errors. :)
