Abigail and Derek were still sitting in silence, enjoying each other's company when all the lights suddenly went out.

Abigail jumped, shifting closer to Derek who sat up in alarm. His eyes glowed as he looked around in the dark, watching and listening for any danger. When he didn't hear anything except his uncle grumbling to himself he relaxed.

He glanced to his right when he felt a little tap on his shoulder. There sat Abigail, tears in her eyes and reeking of fear.

"Hey, it's okay." He reassures, "just a little power outage, there's nothing wrong."

She sniffled and searched his glowing eyes for any sort of lie, but found nothing. However she was still afraid, she doesn't like the dark. She can't really remember if she minded it before she got buried but, she does know that ever since she woke up, she hates the dark.

"Come here." Derek gestured and opened his arms. She wiped away a stray tear and slowly scooted over into Derek's arms. He ran a hand through her golden blonde strands of hair, soothing her.

Abigail welcomed the head massage with a gentle sigh, her eyes slowly slipped closed as Derek continued to sooth her. It didn't take long before Abigail was peacefully sleeping in the arms of the man that she trusts the most.

Derek thought about what had to come next. He knew that after seeing his mother and hearing what she told him, he needed to go figure some things out. He needed to do the necessary research to see if what she said was actually true.

With a plan in mind, Derek slowly stood up with Abigail in his arms. When he was sure that she was still asleep after he put her to bed, he started preparing for the next day.

'just take me with you' was written on a piece of paper that Abigail held up towards Derek. He sighed as he read the words, he didn't know if it was smart to take her with him. When Abigail saw the hesitation, she took back the paper and scribbled a small 'please' underneath her previous message and held it up again.

It ached to see her so desperate to go with him. Her big doe eyes were begging him and with one glance into those beautiful green eyes he felt his resolve breaking.

"alright, fine." He said. The smile that grew on Abigails face was contagious. He watched with a smile of his own as she jumped around the loft and on the couch. She looked so, happy, so vibrant yet still so pale.

the revelation that she looked sick hit him like a ton of bricks in his gut. He thought about what could've caused her to look so ill and remembered that she hadn't been outside for almost a full day now.

"alright, let's go." Derek said and chuckled when Abigail stumbled to stand next to him with a big smile. He quickly grabbed a bag and stuffed a few small things in it, they wouldn't be gone for long but he wanted her to be as comfortable as possible.

Abigail hummed along to a melody in her head as the two walked out of the loft. She was happy to leave the concrete building, even though she loved the balcony and Derek's company in the room, she felt dull.

Derek opened all doors for her and watched as she took a deep breath of fresh air once they got outside. She always did this whenever she had been inside for a while, it made him curious as to what she could be.

With a soft smile on his face, Derek watched as she twirled around to soak in the sun rays. He knew what he was feeling and it slightly scared him. Last time he felt like this, it didn't end well and he didn't want the same thing to happen to Abigail.

"Abi," He called out. She stopped twirling around and openend her eyes to glance at Derek with questioning eyes. "come on, we need to go."

With a soft sigh of disappointment, she walked up to the car that Derek was stood next to. A small pout was on her lips as she soaked in the last of the sun rays before a cloud moved in front of it.

"Don't worry, once we get back I'll take you for a walk in the woods okay?"

The enchanting smile came back onto her face as she climbed into the car when Derek had opened the door for her. His eyes twinkled with adoration as he watched her, she struggled with the seatbelt and eventually pouted up at him once it didn't go as she wanted. With a chuckle, Derek helped her and got into the car himself and drove away.

during their ride, Abigail giggled while she played with the window and watched as it went up and down. She was still mesmerized by the technology of this century. everything was so different than what she was used to. Back when she was young, they had horses with carriages to get around town.

When she was young.. when she was...

With a loud gasp she turned towards the man next to her. Who glanced at her with concerned eyes as he quickly pulled over to the side of the road. Afraid he had to help her cough up more dirt but, was quickly reassured by the hopeful smile on her face.

"what's wrong?" He asked, his eyes examining every part of her to search for any injury. "Abi, what's going on?"

Abigail searched for her notebook, but her movements were frantic as she was too excited to let Derek know that she remembered something from her past. from before her burial. However, Derek was getting anxious from the frantic movements that she made and rushed out of the car to open her door and get her outside.

"Abigail," he pressed, his eyes wide as his hands landed on her shoulders to make her look at him. She wasn't used to this side of him, so.. what's the word, frightened. Abigail looked up at him, confused as to why he was so frightened.

"are you okay?" Derek asked and breathed out a sigh of relief when she nodded. "then what's going on?"

Abigail thought for a while and then made a writing motion with her hands. Realizing what she was looking for, Derek went inside the car and grabbed her notepad and pen. When it was within her reach, Abigail immediately began writing.

'I remembered something!'
