After Abigail remembered a part of her past, Derek decided that it was time for them to go back to Beacon Hills. He didn't care about what he had to do, if he was honest he had already forgotten so it wasn't even that important if he said so himself.
The drive back was quiet, Abigail was humming to herself while Derek drove them back to town. She watched the street lights move, the birds that flew above them and the squirrels that she could see darting through the trees.
She didn't particularly like being in a car, but with moments like these she felt at peace almost.
Derek stole secret glances at the girl next to him. The way her hair swayed in the wind that came through the open window and the soft humming of a melody he didn't know. he was enthralled by her, captivated.
Feeling his gaze, Abigail turned around and smiled shyly when she caught him staring at her with his glowing blue eyes. He blinked, fighting back a smile as he turned back to face the road. With a giggle she turned back to the window, watching a few deer run along with the car.
It didn't take long for the duo to reach Beacon Hills. They stopped by the grocery store to grab some candies and snacks, it was halloween after all even if Abigail had no idea what that holiday was.
Derek tried his best to explain what Halloween was, though Abigail still didn't get it. She just liked that she got to try new food.
When they got back to the loft, something in the air felt different to Abigail. like something had disturbed the earth around the building, she felt like there were no animals left in the few surrounding trees.
She was so in her own head that she didn't notice the three little kids walking up to her and Derek until they yelled,
"trick or treat!"
She gasped and turned to grab onto Dereks arm. He stared the kids down, making them cower a bit before reaching into the car and grabbing a bag of candy. The boys were wary, looking at each other before their faces split into a grin once they saw the candy.
Derek smirked as an idea formed in his head.
Once the kids had their candy and turned to Derek to thank him, he let his eyes changes, canines grow and growled at them. Abigail turned to slap him on the chest as the three kids went off running and screaming.
'that was not nice' she wrote on the little note pad she had in her hands.
"come on Abi, it's halloween." He smirked and turned to put the bag of candy back in the car. However, the hairs on his neck stood upright as the air around them changed.
