When Kyara woke up, she felt much better. She didn't really like crying in front of anybody, but breaking down yesterday helped her out. She knew that it was good to cry like that every now and then, but she really wasn't too happy she cried like that in front of L.
She rolled out of bed and put on some of her own clothes. Watari had brought her favorite pair of jeans and a hoodie, so she put that on and remained barefooted. She carefully folded L's shirt and laid it on her bag of clothing.
She noticed on the table the stack of papers. She was slightly irritated that L had invited himself in once again to leave these. She quickly brushed it off though. Kyara had to constantly remind herself that he rarely ever sleeps and has a lot on his mind, so some of his actions are not going to be normal. He has to do things when he has time to do them regardless of other people.
Kyara quickly flipped through the papers, and she felt a wind of relief as she noticed they were all case files of a therapist. She could handle almost anything pertaining to emotions. This particular test intended to be solved by analyzing the dialogue of the patient and deciding if they needed medical help, was a danger to themselves or others, or just to find out in general what state of mind they were in. Kyara was ecstatic to do these tests. She knew that she could impress L with this.
Kyara bit into one of the juicy plums she had and got to work. She was flying through these tests. She knew exactly what the patient was thinking and feeling. It made her feel good to think that she could possibly have a valuable asset to the Kira investigation.
Kyara was in the middle of finishing up the last case when she heard a light knock on the door. She knew it was Watari so she just yelled, "You can come in." She was surprised when L walked in instead,
"So I see you learned how to knock." Her voice was thick with sarcasm.
Either L didn't recognize the sarcasm, or he just didn't care becaus he replied in his low, monotone voice, "I came to see how you were doing on this set. I figured you would finish these much quicker than yesterday's."
Kyara put the last pencil mark on her final sheet, shuffled the papers into order and handed them to L, "Yeah, these were much simpler."
L took them from her hands and immediately began to view them. Kyara's wide eyes never looked away. She was trying to detect the slightest hint of disgust or amazement. She saw neither.
He looked over the last paper, and his free hand went to his mouth. He stood there like that dazed off for a minute. Kyara felt a tad uncomfortable so she scuffed just a little to snap him back to reality. He finally answered, "Good, I didn't waste my time on you. It seems you have done perfect on emotional analysis, which is a weak point in our time, and we could use you. Please, follow me." L didn't say another word and walked out the door. Kyara followed him.
L brought her to the 12th floor and to the Task a Force Headquarters. Kyara realized what was going on and got nervous. As L was just about to open the door, Kyara stopped him.
"Are you sure you want me to meet them?" Kyara pressed.
"I am not sure about anything, but as a detective, I have to take risks whether I'm sure about them or not." His hand reached out and opened the door before she could question him any further.
Kyara was greeted by a big smile, "Hi, I'm Matsude. You must Kyara Mosi. Ryuzaki has been feeling as that you could be a new member to the Task Force, and I'm guessing by you being up here that he's letting you join. This is your official welcome to the Japanese Task Force." Matsuda beamed with such intense joy that Kyara wondered how L could be so unemotional around him. Surely that kind of joy runs off a little bit.
Kyara looked around the room and noticed the other members sitting around. L cleared his throat and began introducing each member. She met: Soichiro Yagami, the police chief; Shuichi Aizawa; Kanzo Mogi; and you are told about Hirokazu Ukita, the person she was replacing. Kyara mentally place names with faces when she noticed that somebody was not introduced.
Before she could ask, L was already answering, "This is Light Yagami. He is not introduced as part of the Task Force because I believe he is Kira." Both Kyara and Light react in the same way.
Kyara had already figured out that L had strange methods, but this certainly was the strangest. What kind of tactic was it to show your prime suspect all the information that you had gathered to go against him.
Light spoke up, "Please, Ryuzaki, we have gone over this already. I can't possibly be Kira. If I were Kira, then it would be impossible that there are still people having heart attacks since I am with you anytime that I am not in school."
L took no time to respond, "Yes Light, we have discussed this. There is less than a 5% chance that you are Kira, but a chance is a chance." Kyara noticed a slight lift in his mouth. He was lying. She figured that L was pretty certain that Light was Kira but wanted Light to get confident by his chances being so low.
She could feel something off about Light too. She weren't sure if it was his too thought out answer or the narrowness of his eyes, but there was something there that made her question him.
Kyara did a small scan of the room, and your eyes met L's. His teeth were working at his thumbnail as he stared at her. Once his thumb left his mouth, he said, "I have something that I would like your opinion on."
L climbed into his chair and crouched. Kyara hovered over him, peering at the computer screen. L began the video of the second Kira's broadcast. Kyara closed her eyes and listened intently at the second Kira. She tried to pick up on slight deviations through the voice changer. When she opens her eyes, the video had stopped, and L was waiting on he thoughts.
Kyara took a moment to process the information in her mind. Once her thoughts were gathered, she stated, "This broadcast is definitely not from the original Kira, but you already knew that. This second Kira is a female. She's young adult who is a bit immature and very excitable. She would be the easiest one to get information from."
L's eyes widened a little, and he stared at his computer screen, "Yes, that is valuable information. I had not come up with that conclusion myself, but your theory matches with my own. I have an idea of who might be the second Kira, but I have yet to get a connection between the original Kira. Your thoughts have solidified my own."
L spun his chair around, now addressing all of the Task Force, "You are all dismissed for the day. I would like to speak with Kyara alone. Her and I have much more that we need to talk about, and you are not required for the rest of the day."
Light spoke, "I would like to stay if that is alright, Ryuzaki."
If it were possible for L's eyes to get any darker, they would have at that point. He coldly said, "No, it would be most beneficial if you left too, Light."
Kyara got the uneasy feeling about Light again when his eyes narrowed when he mumbled, "Fine." She definitely didn't like him.
When everybody had left, L motioned for Kyara to take a seat.
When she had sat down and got comfortable, L got very close to her and said, "I feel if we are to be working as closely together as I believe we will be, it is important for me to get to know who you are. Please, tell me about why you are skilled at emotions."
Kyara was flabbergasted as the memories came flooding into her mind. She took a breath and finally said, "Let me tell you about my mother."
