I was on the highway, headed for the location I received from the unknown number, I had a bad feeling about this but I wanted to check it out, deep down I felt like I needed to.
If it wasn't an ambush then maybe I might get something good from it, afterall there's no gain without a little bit of pain.
I learnt that a long time ago, and I learnt it the hard way, I clenched my jaw when my mind swayed to that time, a time when I had no one and nothing.
I still had no one, but I had a lot, a lot of things I didn't have at that time, a lot of things I wished I had at that time.I sighed out as I pushed that thought away, that was a long time ago and I was never going back to that time, it was past and I was now in the present, a better time and a very better future.
I looked at my GPS and realized I was very close to the location, I eased my car closer to the place and it wasn't an abandoned building like I had guessed, actually it was a very beautiful house, white picket fence, a small lawn and a beautiful porch.
I narrowed my eyes at the house, this doesn't look like a dangerous place to be in, but it doesn't smell nice either, something was definitely off, I looked at my phone again, going through the address and it was very correct to what I was looking at
The whole neighborhood actually didn't look dangerous but suspicious and very normal, too normal if you ask me.
There was a lady across the street walking her dog, the place looked like the typical American neighborhood, with snot nosed rich people who did rich people things.I snorted before I stepped out of the car and headed inside the house, I was hoping there'd be an alarm of some sort, something that'll at least let me know I was in dangerous territory but it was all just normal, up until I walked towards the door and rang the bell.
I fixed my shirt and looked around the place one more time, whoever sent the address better not be messing with me.
Just as I turned around to look at the door, it flew open and a man was standing on the other side, not a young man or guard material, just a man in his fifties, he was putting on a blue suit, brown hair and grey eyes.
"Mr Van Horne, please do come in" he muttered, stepping aside for me to walk in, I looked at him from head to toe, already guessing he sent me that message before I stepped inside, of course with my gun tucked safely behind my pants.
The inside looked just as normal as the outside, nothing out of the ordinary.
A small living room, with a few furnitures and medium sized TV in the middle of the room, there was stairs that probably led up, and just behind the living room, was the dining room and probably the kitchen. They were attached together, but one thing was strange about this house though, there were no pictures, not even a single one that could at least tell me who lives here
"Follow me Mr Van Horne" the man ushered me towards the dining room, as I followed behind him, watching his back, he was rather kind of moderately built for a man his age, not that I know his age, but if I were to guess, he should be around 50 something ish
"Sit" he muttered before he sat himself on the chair opposite the one he offered me, I looked at him from head to toe, scrutinizing him with my gaze as I eyed the chair in front of me.I finally pulled it out and situated myself on it before I looked at him, interlocking my fingers together, I cocked my brows at him when I realized he wasn't going to say anything, and I was getting rather bored and spooked out by him just staring at me
"I'm guessing you're the one that called me here"? I asked him and as if he was in a trance before he snapped as his eyes lit up
"Yes, yes... Uhm actually no not really, my partner called you" he rushed out before shoving his hands into his pocket and bringing out his phone
