(🥀)═══ CHAPTER EIGHT
❝ curiousity killed the cat ❞

History of Magic, taught by Professor Binns, proved to be a different experience altogether. The ghostly professor, with his monotonous voice and tendecy to drone on about historical events, left much to be desired in terms of engaging lessons.

Mazikeen made the best of the situation, pulling out her copy of The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1 for a brief review before their charms class after lunch.

It appeared that Mazikeen wasn't the only one who found the atmosphere less than captivating. Two Gryffindor girls seated in front of her had resorted to passing notes and stifling giggles during the lecture, their attention diverted from Professor Binns' words. Meanwhile, Abraxas, seated to her right, gazed longingly out the window towards the distant Quidditch pitch, his mind clearly elsewhere.

As Mazikeen glanced around the room, her eyes fell upon Tom Riddle, who sat several rows ahead. Unlike his distracted classmates, Tom seemed entirely focused on Professor Binns, his gaze unwavering as he absorbed every word of the lesson. There was a certain intensity to his concentration. It was as if the world around him faded into insignificance as he hung on Binns' every word.

Mazikeen does not dwell on that thought too much. As the lesson progressed, she turned her attention to the book in her lap instead and continued reading.

When class concluded, the students shuffled out, still somewhat caught in the dreary atmosphere that Professor Binns seemed to carry with him.

Abraxas stretched, a look of mild boredom on his face.

"Well, that was riveting," Alphard remarked with a touch of sarcasm and Abraxas nodded in agreement.

Mazikeen chuckled. "Let us hope then that Charms with the hufflepuffs will be more entertaining," she said.

Together, the three of them made their to the Great Hall to have lunch before their last class of the day.

During Charms, the atmosphere is lively and engaging. The classroom is adorned with colorful tapestries and shelves lined with various magical objects and artifacts.

Professor Farah commands attention with her regal bearing and warm, expressive eyes. Her thick hair, streaked with silver, frames a face marked by wisdom and kindness, radiating an air of quiet authority and grace.
