As Zade's mother's hand poised to strike me, I instinctively raised my arms to shield my face, bracing for the blow.
In that fleeting moment, Zade yanked me towards him and grabbed his mother's hands before they could land on me.
"What are you doing, mother?" His voice dripped with a rare anger I'd never witnessed before.
"She needs to learn a lesson. Her actions are devilish!" Zade's mother's voice pierced the air, fueled by fury at my perceived transgressions.
How could she utter such accusations without even extending me a welcome? Her new daughter will bear his son children! felt the sting of her rejection.
Summoning all the acting skills I possessed, I feigned tears, determined to give her a taste of her own medicine. If she wants to humiliate me, I will humiliate her.
"I-I'm so sorry. It wasn't my intention to upset you, mother," I sobbed, seeking refuge in Zade's comforting embrace.
"You! You are a devil! How dare you act like th-" Before she could finish her sentence, Zade's fist collided with the wall, leaving a gaping hole in its wake.
Shock reverberated through me. Had his anger truly reached such heights?
Zade seized my hand and led me swiftly down the hallway towards our bedroom.
Once inside his room, he shut the door firmly behind us, then gently lifted me up and put me on our bed.
"Zade?" I questioned, bewildered by his actions.
His laughter broke the tension, filling the room with a lighter atmosphere.
Zade laughed, making the atmosphere lighter. "Sorry, did I scare you?"
I was in shock. He was angry a minute ago, now he was laughing.
"Did you think I wouldn't notice your performance?" He laughed again.
"So you noticed? Was your anger also an act?" I teased, relieved by his unexpected response.
"I was just playing along with you. But my anger is not an act. Why did she want to slap you?" Zade's concern was palpable as he searched my eyes for answers.
"Your mother and I had an argument. She said that I was trouble and that I had an attitude. She also said that I couldn't say her name or call her mother but Miss Hampton."
The memory of her words reignited my simmering indignation.
"When she said that, I felt unwelcoming. That's why I....""Why you kissed me?" He finished the sentence.
"Yeah," I murmured, still grappling with the whirlwind of emotions.
Zade settled beside me, intertwining our fingers in a silent gesture of solidarity.
"Listen, you will be my wife, and nothing will change that. You don't have to prove anything to them. Ignore my mother; I will have a word with her. She can't hit you. Nobody can hit you. I made a promise to your father that I will protect you," he vowed, his gaze unwavering and full of determination.
Gratitude swelled within me as his words washed over me like a soothing balm.
"Thank you, Zade," I whispered, pressing a tender kiss to his cheek.
In that moment, Zade looked at my eyes. his lips captured mine in a passionate embrace, igniting a fire within me that I couldn't deny.
"Should I stop?" he asked, his breath hot against my skin, uncertainty flickering in his eyes.
I hesitated, my desire outweighing any doubts. "No, keep going," I urged, surrendering to the intoxicating allure of his love.

I ventured into the garden, my mind consumed by thoughts of uncovering the truth about the woman who was obsessed with Zade. Then I notice Siriyah in the garden.
"Siriyah!" I called out her name. She turned around and smiled at me.
"Isadora, do you still want the information?" Siriyah schemed.
"Yes, I do," I affirmed, my curiosity piqued by the promise of revelation.
"Before I divulge anything, there's something I must know."
"Ask away," I replied, eager to satisfy her curiosity.
"I did some research on you and you know that I have connections. I asked people how you were as a persoon in your city and people didn't even know your name. Only your surname. I want to ask how that can be the case when your family is so popular."
My smile faltered. I hadn't anticipated this question.
"The truth is, I'm a troublesome daughter," I admitted, a hint of regret colouring my confession.
"I can tell." Siriyah saw all of my arguments when I was staying here.
"I wasn't allowed for that reason. I have a short temper, you see."
"Now, can you tell me who the woman is?" I inquired.
"Her name is Elizabeth. She's also a friend of Hestia. Interestingly, she bears a striking resemblance to you. Blonde hair and blue eyes."
"Do they have any history together?"
"There was a hint of romance in the air, but it never blossomed into anything substantial. Elizabeth, however, seems unable to move on from him."
"Do you know why their relationship faltered?"
"The families didn't see the need for an alliance, and the Hamptons always considered you destined to be Zade's wife. There may have been personal reasons at play, but I'm not privy to the details."
"Is that so? Thank you for enlightening me," I said, grateful for the newfound clarity.
So they had an relationship and Elizabeth looks like me. I should probably look for her in the next event. Maybe I can get some information.
