"Well,...this all happened because of Valentina's desires!"- mother continued, as Hana stood up quietly, walked to the kitchen slab, mixing a teaspoon of sugar into her coffee mug, which to my surprise, was still filled a quarter.

Yet my full concentration was on mother's tale, i let my eyes travel towards Elena, whose clear face was gleaming with the pockmarks, tensed, yet pretty. I knew she was worried about her brother. Liam, a charming and heartily teen, always cheered everyone up with his lamely-interesting jokes. I had barely seen him cry, though. Him and Ed had so strong of a bond. The pain was invisible, and I could feel it.

Mother was telling the story, which was undoubtedly related to where Liam was,
"After her daughter was born, and her husband didn't return, she went to her father's kingdom back.....waited for her husband, days went by, still no sign of Alford. Finally, accepting her faith one day, she gave up on Alford. She was under the protection of her father, for years, but one stormy night, his old father died, leaving his kingdom to his daughter, Valentina..."- she was speaking,as leon interrupted,
"He wasn't back yet?..dead or something!?"

"Obviously he wasn't back....But! He wasn't dead either!"- mother smiled lightly, biting her lip, as a matter of factly.

We all shared looks, as my eyes met Leon's radiant ones, he smiled feebly and I looked away, couldn't risk another heartbreak....

"So! Alford wasn't dead,...but he didn't showed up.....for, YEARS?"- Ed questioned, frowning.

Mother nodded, with a stiff smile of her slim face, "well! This makes sense, the more you know!"

Our brows shrinked of confusion,
"So!"- mother continued, not bothering about our confused faces,.. "after her father's death, Valentina was crowned as the queen of that kingdom.."

"And what about Alford's kingdom"- i asked out of curiosity, and felt all the eyes on me, but simply ignoring it, I listened.

"Well! It's believed that Valentina's father himself used to manage both the kingdoms...tedious, isn't it?"- she whispered.

It took us a second to process all that, when mother spoke, "we are not sure, obviously. But this is what believed and being assumed., so let's go on with this only."- she smirked softly and continued, "after his death , particularly, Asher is believed to have ruled VADRONIA, thinking that his father was dead—"

"—But he wasn't.." I completed.

"Exactly!"- mother agreed as I nodded.
"....and thus her father's castle is now known as Valentina's castle ...."- she said, "......still believed to be alive.!"

"So! Valentina still lives in the castle!?"-Elena questioned.
Mother nodded, agreeing. "And, this is all we know, honestly!"

"You don't know what happened afterwards?."- Leon's voice shattered disappointment.

Mother simply shook her head, knowing no explanations needed, and spoke softly, "yet! All we know is that Valentina did have some supernatural powers, which supposedly, is inherited to her children, too. And, with her magic, she converted the people into the nump things,.....it spreaded like virus!"

"What kind of power, exactly..!?"-Ed asked.

"Don't know...."

"What about Alford!? Did he return!...any information!?"-I threw stupidly, yet mother replied with a straight, gentle 'no', Soon enough my senses answered the question swiftly, when my stomach lurched. The tower- that tomb- the horrifying incident- that old parchment- the weird text - "here lies the holy body of sir Alford J.S. Kennedy". Clear enough, he was dead. I was confused, I didn't tell Ed and Elena either, should I inform Mother? When my confusion was broken by mother's gentle voice,

"Some rest, i assume?"- she said, "An hour till sunrise!...go on and give your bodies a break! We'll plan at 6 sharp on what to do next," she was pointing at an old wooden clock, hanging on the wall behind us showing 5:05, when she snapped her thin fingers and the couches converted into beds, arranged by a order. Elena and Ed shared astonished looks, and mother whispered to them, "special Elite Forces, my dear.... you can expect some exceptions with the headquarter officer, atleast"-as she winked and left the space, entering the room, saluting goodbye.
