About three weeks later, Manhattan, New York, 2014~

"Он просто немного растерялся. Ваша задача — напомнить ему о его истинной цели." (He's just become a little confused. It's your job to remind him of his true purpose.)

The order kept replaying in my mind as I stalked the semi familiar streets of Manhattan. From the distance, I could see the night sky being illuminated by the Avengers tower. From far away, the faint sound of police sirens arose, but they weren't going to be my biggest problem tonight.

It was obvious that I simply couldn't just break into the Avengers tower. No, I'd be a dead girl if I even tried. However, there was a party being held tonight. A celebration of something I'd assume.

Hydra had somehow managed to get their hands on an invitation. My cover? I was the clingy daughter of the agents who simply couldn't be without her father. I rolled my eyes at the cover story when I first heard it, but I obliged anyway.

So, now here I am, standing next to a musty smelling agent, clinging to his arm like a lost puppy in a long guest line with a very itchy dress waiting to finally get in the venue. (Dress down below. If you think it's ugly, that's the point ;)

After what felt like hours of waiting, we'd finally made it to the front of the line to where the invitations were being seen

After what felt like hours of waiting, we'd finally made it to the front of the line to where the invitations were being seen. When it had been our turn, security looked at me questionably but said nothing. Though, I can tell when someone is skeptical when I see it. I just hope that they will blow over it. Surely I wasn't the most threatening person here.

When the warm air finally hit both the agent and I, it felt unsettling compared to the harsh winds both inside Hydra and outside that I had grown accustomed to. I shivered. Not because I was cold, but because it felt unnatural.

I felt the agent harshly step on my foot; a warning not to draw attention to either of us. I bit my tongue and slightly nodded in confirmation. As we wandered towards the elevator, more people gathered around us, also making their way up to where the main party was being held.

While it would make things a bit harder to keep concealed, this isn't the worst-case scenario. I watched as a young man dressed in a tuxedo pressed the floor button, and then the elevator began to go up.

It made me a bit queasy, but a harsh stomp on my foot reminded me of what not to do. So, I swallowed the nauseating feeling and continued on, acting like nothing bothered me in the first place.

The bell rang, signaling we were at the floor we needed to be. The floor where my mission came into play. The agent took my hand and led me to an empty hallway. I glanced out of the corner of my eye and spotted a camera. Before the agent could do anything, I took it out of a pocket from the dress, a shuriken, and threw it at the camera, breaking it.

The agent looked at me cautiously but continued to do his job. He handed me a loaded handgun and an army knife if I needed it. Before he left me to my own devices, he turned to me and whispered, "Не подведи, Тирания. Приветствую Гидру." (Don't fail, Tyranny. Hail Hydra.)

I nodded my head once more, and the next thing I know, he's gone.

Now was the really difficult part. Hydra had told me that Winter wouldn't come back willingly, so I needed to persuade him. (By persuade, I mean use his trigger words) They said he just strayed off the right path and that he needed a little push. And that I was going to be the one to give it to him.

I clicked the device held up on my wrist to pull up a 3D map of the Avengers tower. If I could find a maintenance room of some kind, I could sneak into the vents, and I wouldn't actually have to confront Winter. I could just do it from afar, avoiding unwanted conflict. After fiddling with it for a few minutes and ducking it behind my back whenever someone walked by me, I found exactly what I had been looking for.

I stuffed the weapons I had been given into my dress pockets and began to follow the hallways that led me to a maintenance room. When I tried the door handle, to nobody's surprise, it was locked. I rolled my eyes and kicked the door down with ease. Fortunately, unlike some doors in the building, this one didn't have a built-in alarm system.

I closed the now slightly broken door behind me and looked around the room. Boilers, ventilation systems, breakers, you name it. I looked at a specific boiler, seeing there was a vent above it. Bingo. I slightly smiled and began to scale the boiler hastily. I pried the cover of the vent of the hinges and began my trek to find my old partner.
