"Draco you could've told her straight up and not have acted like a coward about it,"Blaise sighed raising up his hands in frustration.
"Tell her what-that my bloody father who is still locked up in Azkaban because of charge of murder of millions of innocent muggles like her, like her parents, has threatened to kill her if we correspond anymore?"Draco almost shouted, his anger growing second after second.
"Draco calm down. That damned letter that you received just now doesn't justify anything, okay? I'm sure we can figure out a way to-"Blaise was stopped mid-sentence as he heard a heart-wrenching sob.
Draco Malfoy was crying.
The last time when he cried, was when he had to face Dumbledore on the night of his death. After all this time...
He plopped down on the bed and shook his head violently, agony and pain that had been bottled up, now released bit by bit, in screams and sobs.
"He's ruined my life Blaise. He's ruined my life. From my friends, my studies and now someone that I...love .We can't fix this Blaise, we can't. I failed her. I failed. Again."
Blaise hugged him tighter as Draco broke down completely in his arms.
He looked at the letter that the strange rough fellow had handed to Draco, on their way back from Hogsmeade. On it was pasted a picture of a blonde girl.
A tall fair girl. Who had straight blonde hair, blue doe eyes and an extremely shiny smile. She looked like she came straight up from the cover of Witch Weekly. And below her picture was written,
'Ms. Sylvia Stone ,a much better option for you. She is the daughter of one of your mother's closest friends. Most importantly, she is of our majestic pureblood kind, unlike some filthy mudbloods in your close quarters. And much to my delight, the lovely lady will be joining Hogwarts for the preparations for her final exams soon. Treat her well, son. And do not dare to defy me, if you want to keep that muggle friend of yours safe. I am your father, Draco. I know what's best for you. Visit me sometime, this prison is hell. Your mother seems to have forgotten me altogether.'And it was then and there that Blaise took an immediate dislike to her. Well sure, he hadn't met her yet. But who needed to?
The only quiet one was Theo, standing at the door.
The memories came rushing back.Flashback starts:
"So who will it be Miss Granger?"Pansy joked as Hermione grew redder and redder.
"Uh..I would choose Theo! He's pretty cute,"Hermione grinned triumphantly.
Match won. Fair and square.
The whole table erupted into laughter, including Theo, who couldn't hide his blush.
The only one who wasn't laughing was Draco. Well obviously. He kept shooting daggers at Theo, who smirked at each of them.
But inside, all he felt was sadness.Flashback ends
They were made for each other. And here Theo stood solemnly, feeling morphed out.
He hadn't let anyone see those stolen stares, those torn love letters, those ruined gifts, those heartbroken poems, those goddamned emotions which he had kept hidden for so many years.
He hadn't let anybody know that Theodore Nott was in love with Hermione Granger from the first day of their first year at Hogwarts.
Well, fuck him for thinking that he had a chance with the love of his life, after the war, when the situation of the House Rivalry was taken under control. But he supposed he should drown his thoughts, and suck it up.
'Men don't cry,'his father used to say every time he hit him with the scathing leather of his belt.
"I'm no man, father."
Theo whispered to himself as he made his way to the Astronomy Tower. A tear slipped from his eye. He didn't know what broke him. Whether it was that one small tear on the ground, or the hundreds that followed.
