Lams #1: Family

This will be their family in the future (The other kids are there, but we'll only talk about Philip because I think he's more known) and some of John's family (Yes, Henry)

Be prepared, it's a lot for one section

- They have 9 children (Philip doesn't die 🌸)

- Philip calls Alex "dad" and John "papa"

- Philip listens to John more, unless Alex is mad

- Alex is also definitely the irresponsible parent

- Henry Laurens considers Philip his "grandchild" (because he wants more grandchildren) and Alex HATES it

- ^^ Henry once asked John "Does Philip have the Laurens last name?" (No, he doesn't)

- John calls Philip "Pip" or "little brat"

- Philip does the Stewie Griffen "mom, mom, mommy, momma-" thing to Alex (but switching "mom" to "dad")

- Philip hisses at Alex

- Philip calls Alex and John gross for kissing

- Philip once asked "Dad, are you handsome?" And John immediately said "Don't get him started." And then Alex went on a whole speech of why he was handsome

- Alex whispered to John at the dinner table with Philip, "Oh come on, I can't be that much of a bad influence, right?" Then Philip smiled and said "Dad! I caught a bird today and almost ate it! But then Papa said to let it go..."

- ^^ When Alex asked Philip why he wanted to eat it, Philip looked confused and said, "You told me to. You said if I ever caught a bird, I should try it and see if it tastes like chicken..." then John glared at Alex

- Whenever Henry sends John a letter, the first thing he does is insult Alex (implied, not directly)

- Henry doesn't like Alex's red hair

- Harry (Henry Jr.) treats Alex like a brother

- Henry scowls every time he sees Alex

- Harry asked Alex about his mother and father, to which John nudged him to stop. But Alex answered anyway

- Harry has told Alex the story about John and Francis because John never really brought it up

- John has mentioned Alex in his letters to Harry from camp. Harry admits to Alex that John has called him cute, funny, talkative, handsome, charming, flirty, intimidating when he's mad-hothead, and short (even though, in my hc, Alex is taller) and John has mentioned a few arguments

- Harry was iffy about Alex, but once he knew Alex treats John good, he was okay with him

- Harry and Alex both agree John is full of insults and threats (and he is)

- John was a fast learner when it came to his father

- While John grew up, he learned everything and passed it to his siblings. As to not make Henry mad, John would tell his siblings "sit up straight" or "don't speak yet"

- To his father, John wouldn't stand up for himself, but he would stand up for his siblings

- Alex once thought his anger reminded John of Henry, but Harry reassured Alex and told him "He never really stood up to our father, but he can definitely stand up to you."

- John rubs Alex's back comfortingly while Henry glares at him (Alex)

- Henry once asked Alex "What do you do? Can you at least provide for my son?" And Alex wasn't really sure how to answer because he wasn't completely able to (he's not wealthy, we all know)

- Henry definitely hates Alex (John doesn't really care, he loves Alex)

- Henry only has to tell John "Quiet." And John will listen

- Henry told Alex "My son needs a good wife and a good job. You're distracting him considering he has neither."

- ^^ Henry also says to Alex "You tricked him into this life when you proposed." (Yes, this is historical. But later you'll learn Alex convinced a priest to marry them illegally)

- ^^ After this whole thing (which was only one visit to Henry's house) John told Henry to never write to him again unless he wishes to apologize for speaking to Alex like this

- Alex fears leaving his children, because he swore he would be nothing like his own father. John finds this super sweet and promising that Alex is a good father

- Sometimes Philip will randomly run over and hug John's legs

- Alex once took Philip hunting when he was 8 and he let him use his musket. They got a deer and two rabbits (Alex was super proud of Philip)

- ^^ once John heard Alex let Philip use a musket, he was a little nervous/angry but he was also happy that Philip had the fun experience and that Alex had it under control

- ^^ when they got back, John was going to scold Alex. But Alex saved himself by telling John it was under control

- John will go "mom mode" on Philip and tell him "don't eat so fast" or "be careful" or "don't talk with your mouth full"

- John can be super mad at Alex and about ready to throw hands, but as soon as any of their kids walk in, John goes soft and will be playful again (but will glare at Alex from time to time, making Alex nervous)

- John is very kid friendly. If their kids are in the room, he will not let Alex do anything more than kiss

- ^^ Alex knows this and he hates it, although he also wouldn't do anything else in front of his children either

- Philip once walked in on John and Alex making out. All Philip said was "Dad I'm bored." And John pushed Alex off of him and said "go play with your son." Which Alex was like "huh-"

- Alex and Philip once stayed up til 2 AM together and John walked in on them having a pillow fight and he was like "w h a t-"

- ^^ he scolded Alex and told him not to keep Philip up that late
