Chapter 4: Jay's Secret & Cole's Confession

Back with the Kai:

Kai felt pretty awkward - so he left the room pretty quickly after Zane, once he got into his room he walked over to his mirror, staring into the reflection 'Is that really me? That doesn't look right.' he thought, starting to dissociate again.

He looked down at his hands, he looked up at the mirror, he felt something was off but he didn't know what or why.

He didn't feel real.

"BREAKFAST IS READY!" Zane shouted so everyone could hear him, he actually sounded happy, which was a good change. His emotions were definitely back on now.

'Maybe he did turn his emotions back on after all?' Kai thought as he continued trying to figure out why his body felt like.. nothing? But also weird and too much at the same time. 'Why does this keep happening?' he thought.

By the time Kai got to the kitchen Cole was already there, picking at his food and not really eating it at all, again.

Once Kai sat down Zane left to go give Jay his plate.

"Y'know, you really should try to eat.. please?" Kai pleads

Cole looks at him, Kai attempting to use puppy eyes was actually kinda.. cute. He notices his face heat up. "I uh.. okay, I'll try, but I'm not really hungry.." He looked away, flustered, he'd never been more glad that he was a ghost because no one could really tell he was blushing. You could definitely hear it in his voice though.

Soon enough Cole had eaten about half his plate and Kai was almost done eating. "Alright, I'm full, but I did try." Cole said, looking at his plate a little disappointed in himself. "You did good, I'm proud of you!" Kai smiled, making Cole flustered again.

"I uh.. I have to go to the bathroom-" Cole stood up, about to start walking away, Kai quickly tried grabbing his hand but it just went through "Wait!" Cole turned back around, raising an eyebrow at Kai "hm?" Kai hesitated, his face heating up a little "I uh.. um- I don't wanna be left alone right now.. could you wait here for me to finish my food?" he asked coyly, Cole accidentally let out a small chuckle 'Cute..' he thought. "Um.." 'but what if he takes too long and I can't - but I'd be a bad friend if I left him just to go do that.' he thought. He took a deep breath "Okay." Cole smiled gently, Kai smiled back and blushed a little "...Thanks"

Meanwhile:

"Hello Jay!" Zane smiled eagerly, a slight panic in his eyes and his face slightly colder as opposed to hotter due to the coolant running through his system.

Jay gasped "You turned your emotions back on!" He smiled back happily, taking the plate from Zane. As he started to eat he thought of something.

"Hey Zane?" He asked cautiously.

"Yes, Jay?" Zane answered, raising an eyebrow.

"There's something that's been bothering me.. and... I need someone to talk about it with.. if that's okay?" Jay asked nervously.
