Chapter 3: The Jay Situation & Zane's Realisation

Kai walks through the hallway near Jay's room, he hears soft crying and leans in towards the door, slightly confused. Then, he hears it; he hears a zap, followed by-

*THUD*

He, nigh instantaneously, bursts into Jay's room. He looks at Jay, lying on the floor limp and covered in burn marks that look like bolts of lightning cascading across his skin, he covered his mouth letting out a gasp.

"JAY! JAY NO! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! FUCK, JAY, TALK TO ME!" Kai shouted, grabbing the attention of everyone in the monastery, who was still only them, Cole, and Zane.

He left Jay on the ground, only turning him to his side and grabbing a pillow for his head as Jay's body started to twitch 'At least I know he's still alive.. for now.' he thought, still very worried. 'Did he electrocute himself to try and...?' tears were streaming down his face by the time Cole and Zane entered the room.

"He needs immediate medical assistance, thank you Kai, by the way for putting him on his side, better safe than sorry." Zane stated.

"Cole, can you please help Kai carry him to the infirmary? Be careful with him though, he looks to be covered in second degree burns." He continued, it was obvious he had turned off his emotions by now, he didn't want to feel anything anymore; so why should he?

Cole and Kai carried Jay to the infirmary and gently set him down, then they nervously waited in the living room. Kai paced around anxiously and Cole was chewing his nails and pulling his hair and bouncing his leg nervously. After a few hours had gone by, Zane finally come out of the room. Kai and Cole looked at him, hopeful. "His condition has stabilised." He stated rather blankly.

Kai grew frustrated at Zane's emotionless state "It's not fair! Why do we have to feel worried and sad and angry and you don't!"

"Kai.." Cole said, rubbing Kai's back. Kai pushed him away, crossed his arms, and glared at the wall.

Zane looked slightly confused, he didn't want to feel his emotions, they were too much; so, he thought it was only logical to turn them off.

"He will be okay, Kai." Zane said, hugging him, even without his emotions, he still understood empathy, maybe they weren't entirely gone after all.

"OKAY?! OKAY?! HE JUST TRIED TO KILL HIMSELF DID YOU SEE THE NOTE?! HE'S NOT OKAY AND-- AND--" His breath hitches and he starts crying again. Cole rubbed his back before turning Kai to face him and hugging him tightly.

That night, Kai couldn't stop blaming himself, he wanted to burn himself but ultimately he just stared at his scars and cried the whole night until he passed out.

Cole wondered why he never notice before, blaming himself for everything that had ever happened, he grabbed a shuriken from his weapon bin and threw it at the wall in frustration, he looked at it in the wall and noticed how sharp it was 'Maybe I deserve it..' he thought, but he resisted. He couldn't sleep though.

Zane just sat in his bed and stared into the void for a while, before finally turning his emotions back on and just crying for most of the night.

Jay woke up the next morning in extreme pain, Kai sitting by his side holding his hand now loosely, half asleep. Cole was lying on the ground sleeping, and Zane staring at him with intense worry.
