"That's all for the lesson today, Lady Edith." My political tutor gave me a formal smile before lifting his tea cup. The said young man, in his early twenties, had brown hair tied in a low ponytail and round glasses, embracing those yellow eyes as calmly as his personality. He sat on the couch opposite my direction, with pleasing features for extra character.

"Thank you for making things easier to understand, Sir Ray." I slightly bowed to show gratitude as Beth started to sort my stuff on the table. There were merely some papers and a stationary set on the table, which I could handle by myself, but she still insisted on doing it.

"I should thank the lady for being so prodigious to get the details quicker for the likes of her age." He stared at the cup for a moment before sipping from it.

For a mentally seventeen-year-old, I sure was interested in civics.

"Don't flutter me, Sir Ray. I was indeed taught by the best." I answered humbly, putting down my teacup on the saucer. He truly did a great job of explaining the events and terms in detail. Thanks to him, I learned some important information in a short period of time.

"You're nothing like the rumors circulated by those people, but very efficient in learning things with enthusiasm, lady Edith. As expected from the daughter of the Duke." He remarked, chuckling at the end, as I stared blankly at his face.

Rumors..?

"I've got another appointment, so I'd like to excuse myself, Lady Edith." He rose from his seat.

"Once again, thank you for today's lesson, Sir Ray. I'll have someone escort you back." I said, calling one of the nearby butlers. I bid him farewell as he left.

For the time being, there's only one thing that I can do: hone my knowledge and prepare myself for negative events.

Due to the tutoring classes I've been attending and my frequent trips to the library, I've gained a good idea of this world's political system, etiquette, aristocratic ranks, and history.

Contrary to my expectations, I managed to memorize the books or whatever I read in detail. I wonder how this was possible, but thinking about my existence as someone from a novel, everything started to look possible, but still, there are more things I need to learn in order to survive the plot.

In Edith's Room

"Beth, I want to visit the capital." I tiled my head and directed my attention to the said maid, who had been standing beside my desk for the entire two hours. I finished reading the third alchemy guide before stretching my arms.

"We must get permission from the Duke for that, milady." She exclaimed with a straight face, but there was a tinge of excitement in her eyes.

Going to the duke would be troublesome, but I don't want him to interrogate me about this matter later.

"Ain't there any other way to exit the mansion without his permission?" I asked to check if she got the inkling of my words.

"We'd be in a mess if we got caught by the knights in charge of security for sneaking out of the garden." She immediately shut her mouth when she realized her mistake, and the corners of my lips curled into a grin.
