The Another Chance To Live

Chapter Three

"Your Grace has requested for your presence in his study without any further delay, Lady Edith." The butler said as he readjusted his spectacle resting on his nose bridge.

I'm done for. YEAH!!

I was sitting on the chair while the maid brushed my red hair gently as the butler exits the room setting my mind on terror.

"Beth, can I refuse the offer since the weather seems a bit colder today?" I said in a serious tone before coughing in the end.

"The winters are still going and I'm afraid we can't keep the Duke waiting anymore, my lady." She smiled brightly at me before returning to her work. Her actual name was Bethany Rivera but I preferred it short and she didn't disagree with that. She was the personal maid assigned to me after I accidentally yelled at the pervious one if you remember.

Three days passed since I discovered that I got reincarnated as Edith Joyce Castilla. The antagonist of Engraved to my Fate who is destined to die by the hands of the main character. From these past three days the Duke, not to mention my father has been asking me to visit him and I've been making several excuses for three days straight to push the meeting off.

Maybe the time has came for me to die again.

In other stories the villainess would try to befriends the character but I had no plans such as that instead I'll completely avoid any encounter with them but if unfortunately I'm meant to meet them. I'll just form allies cause a profitable contract is better than an emotionally bounded relationship. The most important thing now wasn't the main characters but it was bonding with the duke.

Well let's just hope that works!

"We can't keep him waiting any longer then." I stood up from my chair before taking an one last glance at my appearance at the mirror.

Damn the beauty of this girl. The duke can't possibly let such a babe die by those bastards male leads!

I signed to my thought of putting a good impression on the duke enough for him to take my side when the downfall comes.

On my way to the Duke's study a bunch of servants were bowing to show their respect when they realized that I passed them but they obviously had fear inside those eyes as I can spot it.

I stood there in front of the study in awe thinking about the bleak future coming for me. I knocked the door twice before a heavy voice answered.

"Come in."

Beth pushed the door open as I walked in with her following behind me.

The study was quite spacious, it was almost as large as my room. The man sat behind a desk in the middle of the room as he wore an indifferent expression. His light brown hair looked gorgeous in the sunlight and those pair of ruby red eyes made his looks majestic, just like mine.

Oops. Mommy was totally nuts to leave such a hot daddy for some foreign dwarf.

The duke has this very cold aura surrounding him that made people hesitant to go near him. I approached him with a confident smile and curtsied to greet.
