Third Person's POV
"Don't! He's still five, please I beg you." A younger youngster shook at the horrifying sight of his mother sobbing as the woman with brown hair was pulled by some men who were bringing her somewhere else.
Everyone saw the scene as the other moms cradled their infants in their arms in an attempt to keep them from seeing it, but it was already too late. The tiny infants' bodies shivered every time they heard the agonising cries, and they watched this with wide eyes.
The mother sobbed and begged the men to let her go, but all they did was laugh at her misfortune. When the blue lad gave her a pat in order to console her, the red-haired girl saw this with tears in her eyes.
"What a bunch of jerks. Let's avoid taking any risks at this time." Leaning forward, he murmured quietly. She gave him a sincere smile, and it lifted her spirits.
The men exchanged glances, amused by the new information, until one got to his feet and stooped to within the woman's line of sight.
"A boy? He's worth a bag of silver coins or two, so I'll take good care of him." The woman began to scream loudly in fear when the taller male laughed, but it was all in vain.
As the other guys hurriedly got ready for the auction, Edith was shocked to discover what a quick mouth Joseph had. It was clear that they were attempting to resolve the matter quickly while keeping the master in shadows.
She was anxious about how quickly the events were changing, even if the crew had been purposefully driven to work themselves to the bone for this chance. It was ironic to go so quickly without any internal motivation.
"The fragile values this world holds are drastic." The boy standing close froze at her words but quickly recovered, showing the distaste in her tone.
Though Edith feigned to be clueless, she was quick to notice this change in expression.
He probably has some history out there. I definitely need to get a hold on his background after leaving this place.
When they noticed the other males approaching, their brief conversation was cut short approach with inquisitive looks. She fell silent, behaving like a troubled, melancholy teenager.
"However, the majority of them are just as stunning. The blonde and the redhead are ideal candidates to go first."
Shit.
Edith knew quite well that in this world, attractiveness was a major draw. She was tempted to curse the author for creating an antagonist who was such an eye candy for the lustful society. Even in the novel, Edith used seduction to get away with her wrongdoings; yet, she was disappointed when the male protagonist didn't fall for her ruse.
"That boy's even prettier!" A large man gestured to Bluey, then flushed like a fucking homosexual pedophile. She looked in his way and saw that he was as composed as if that person was not going to drag him into a brothel. The big man quieted down and peered at Bluey with a dejected expression, but she understood exactly what he meant when he looked down, as shown by the emptiness in his eyes.
Isn't he such a talented actor. Indeed, you appear to be a gorgeous damsel in distress huh.
Sensing the sympathy aimed at him, she sighed at the drama. She turned to look and saw through the tiny space between the bodies of the men was a sky painted into a rich colour of orange and crimson.
Three days inside this place and I haven't eaten anything yet.
"Get all of them out." As they noticed the, a voice abruptly cut off the discourse taking place within her thoughts. the same guy who rescued the blonde from Joseph that day.
