It had taken a while for thier body to adjust to a new kind of magic Skyler had used to ease the the pain; however, after about one Saturday weekend, as it stated on the surprisingly accurate decade old calendar. The sting of the fall had shot up tremendously as they muffled thier screaming through the fluffy-soft, royal blue blanket.
Skyler had miscalculated and said it would take three or four more weeks to heal. However, frisk was stubborn enough to force themselves up gently, the sharp pain seething through their body.
They reached for their "elada", as the lady called it. But they weren't close enough; so they shifted in their bed to get closer-thud! They've nearly face planted on the wood, if it wasn't for being hovered five inches above the floor.Wait- they couldn't do magic. They weren't a fairy.
"I thought I told you to rest." Frisks heart dropped, they looked up to see Skyler frowning at them from the open door. Laughing sheepishly, they started with an exaggerated excuse "There was a monster under my bed and I escaped! From its foreseeable clutches." This did not earn a smile from her.
They gulped, remembering the circumstances they were facing. "Wrong time...?" Thankfully, she let it go and sighed, striding over to frisk to scoop them up. She smiled and huffed a little laugh; "You could've called me if you wanted to move."
"Sorry..." they apologized. Again, she snorted. "Just don't do that again, little monkey." As rough as the situation between them was, it was surprisingly comforting.
Little monkey. I quite like that nickname. They thought.
But they still wanted to leave.

Although they were given a nice meal of soup, they felt uneasy about all this. They wondered whether their caretakers worried they weren't in the orphanage on due curfew. They cared for them, they loved them back. It didn't make sense. None of this did.
"My child." She said, frisk lifted thier head to face her eye to eye. "I know you wish to leave."
"But my only concern is if you have a family to return to."
They thought about it momentarily, and answered as honestly as they could. "My caretakers are my family, they adopted me. So yes." Skyler sighed, relieved. "That's good enough." Smiling determinedly, she told them. "Then let's prepare."

Outside the cozy home was beautiful, it seemed that Skyler really provided proper care for this place, trimming the bushes and treating the hazardous vines and flowers.A froggit hopped by and saw the small child, and croaked happily. Amazed, frisk smiled and waved.
They were nearing the end of the corridor and left the ruins. In the distance they could see vines crossed in every direction skulls and dust and fresh purple and pink dried ichor.
A trickle of what seemed like boiling water fell onto frisks hair and they lifted one hand only for it to come away a syrupy magenta, frisk tilted thier head a bit but not too far, in order to get a good look at its derivation, just scarcely they swore they could've seen a pair of knives and teeth dangling and surrounding a green chrysalis.
Frisk squirmed in Skyler's arms and dug thier face into her chest. "Don't be afraid, my little one" she assured frisk as she held the child tightly but gently.
As soon as she opened the door, the blazing hot breeze greeted them with soaked magenta sand as a jack in the box music started to play somewhere and they didn't know where and it only grew rapidly and more ear splitting. Skyler had wanted to cover her sensitive ears, however she knew better than to drop an injured child.
Time was ticking, and they needed to make it out if they wanted to live. "Going so soon?" The voice sounded saddened, but... it was snickering!
A purple and black flower popped up from the ground with a sorrow look on its face. "Oh. It's just you again." It said irritated. Then, it sunk its sharp needle like teeth into a decomposed arm, throwing it up into the sky and than letting a huge wasp take a massive chomp out of it.
The wasps sharp teeth like knives munched and crunched on something hard and spat out a couple of bones.
Skyler held the elf closer and protectively wrapped her arm around thier injured head. A child such as them, didn't need to see this. She thought.
The flower stared at the frisk the elf tentatively, a sneer grew on its face. "Oh I do deeply apologize for making you damn your time on seeing all this when you have a little one to worry about."
Whatever reaction it expected from Skyler, didn't come; she left her tone unchanged except for a hint of displeasure.
"My child is injured, oh god of the underground." She told it. Frisks eyes widened at the mention of Skyler calling a flower of all people. A god.
"Please. Have mercy on us." Her voice cracked, and her eyes pleading.
"Alright." It conceded, waving a vine to the wasp to leave.
That was... easier than I thought. Frisk thought, thier body easing.
Skyler strides past the flower, just as she was almost out of earshot; the flower called out. "You deserve forgiveness this time, at least you could consider it MERCY." The flower huffs a laugh. "A gift of grace due to your little incident." The flower sneer falters into a frown. "Wouldn't want that happening AGAIN. Wouldn't we?"
At that, she stopped in her tracks, wanting to ball her fists but then remembered the squirming frisk that she held onto too tight. She loosened her grip.
Out of earshot, they asked if Skyler was alright.
"It's adult stuff dearie, I'm fine. Don't worry." Even though her smile was reassuring, frisk felt the air between them grow into sorrow. She was not fine.
