If it were possible to outlive death would you consider it? Normally you would say no, cause you've already had a fulfilling life with no need to drag it out any longer.
But this monster, the survivor of an incident with his friend did the inconceivable. Although his body was charred black beak and feet, his body knew the toll of the inevitable death. And closed his eyes one last time.It was jarring, icy cold pain striking his body as it was trying to claw out of death. He gasped, he breathed, two humans looking at him in a panic stricken manner, red lights blaring in his closed eyes. He went to sleep again.
Maybe this was just a dream. He thought, nobody cared for him, always expected everything from him. Why would he been given another chance?

He awakened with a gasp, clutching his beating chest. Observing the room, breathing heavily, it was until he realized he was in a hospital room. Something was off, it felt too cold, although the room he woke up in occurred that it was only at the temperature of 78 degrees which was normal for a hospital, however, it felt like 28 to his body and he was shivering furiously. He shifted his weight for just a moment before he was met with a striking sharp pain in his veins. Wincing, he glared menacingly at his IV stuck in one of his still soaked feathers that hadn't had time to dry.
A doctor and blue scrubs appeared with a shocked look on his face, the bird monster glanced at the tray of cookies and water the doctor held in his hand. "You really are a monster..." he breathed. "Yeah, and??" The bird monster gestured for the doc to continue.
"Well... we just don't get a lot of monsters around these parts of the city." He hesitated a moment, biting the inside of his cheek. "Especially when it's a toddler."
The pale blue bird continued to stare at the tray, which by then the physician realized he was still holding the food. Walked up to the monster and placed the snacks in his hands. "Thanks." The monster murmured, almost inaudible.
Sighing, the physician explained he was in a severe state of frost bite while also giving antibiotics such as ibuprofen and pain relievers, then oxygen therapy to increase blood oxygen levels.
He also advised that the bird should drink water while he waited for progress in healing the body. "We were lucky the two found you when they did." "Otherwise... the consequences would've been the most dire"
At the mention of two people, he widened his eyes. "Who. who...." "Who saved me?" He breathed, clutching his chest. "Ah, Right." Says the doctor registered the fearful face.
"Once you're fully healthy, you'll be with a new kind and caring family." He declared casually.
"Family...?" The Birds Eye's began to water. Wondering if this was a dream, or...
If it was truly a new beginning.
"Yes, considering you do not have one." The physician quickly added, "BUT. You still have to get treatment I've advised your caregiver."
Before he left, the medic asked the bird. "What's your name? I need at least something to write into the records."
His mouth moved slightly to form the words: "Berdly."
