In the center of the crater...
The giant, ape-like beast tore into the Empress Dark Scorpion, its monstrous jaws crushing the creature's thick exoskeleton with disturbing ease. Meld, Elk, and Eberhard could only stare, captivated and horrified by the raw, primal power on display. The beast, a towering figure of fifty or sixty feet, loomed even larger than the impressive Dark Scorpion, dwarfing it by nearly ten feet.
"Fascinating," Elk breathed, eyes wide with wonder. "This creature defies all known classifications. It's a marvel of nature itself."
"As a former general of the Demon King's army, I've faced my share of monsters," Meld said, her voice filled with respect. "But this... this is something else. I sense no mana, no magic—it's just pure, brutal force."
Moving with a blur of speed, Meld circled the beast, her electric aura crackling like a thunderstorm around her. Beside her, Eberhard observed the creature with a watchful gaze, studying its movements and piecing together its nature.
"This might be the creature we've been tracking," Eberhard murmured, eyes lingering on the massive footprints scattered around them. "But... the full moon—it's as if it's triggered some transformation, like a lycan."
Elk nodded, transfixed. "Yes, though no Lycan I've seen rivals this in size or ferocity. This beast is primal strength incarnate."
The trio watched cautiously as the beast finished its grisly meal, its bloodlust temporarily satisfied. The creature extended its long tongue with a low, rumbling sigh, clearly thirsty. Their amazement shifted to shock when the beast suddenly began charging energy within its jaws, directing it at the earth below.
"I've seen monsters wield magic, dragons, golems, but this..." Meld said, her voice edged with disbelief as she circled it. The creature blasted the ground, revealing a hidden water reservoir beneath. Elk's eyes glinted with awe as he grasped the creature's intelligence—it had anticipated the presence of water.
"Incredible! It's far more cunning than we thought," Elk exclaimed, glancing at Eberhard, who stood beside him.
"Remember, the West King ordered us to observe, but we must be careful. This creature could be a significant threat," Eberhard warned, gaze fixed on the towering beast.
Eberhard decided action was necessary and suggested they attempt to subdue it. He turned to Meld and indicated she should distract the beast. She responded with a defiant glare.
"Why should I take orders from you?" she snapped, eyes flashing.
Elk raised an eyebrow. "Because, unlike you, I have the foresight to approach this carefully."
The tension between them spiked, sparking a heated exchange that Eberhard quickly interrupted, pinching each of their ears with a sharp rebuke.
"Enough! We don't need your bickering stirring the beast to attack us," he scolded.
With his reprimand sinking in, they muttered apologies, though the rivalry between Meld and Elk simmered just beneath the surface. When their exchange reignited, Eberhard silenced them with a firm smack to their heads.
"If you two can't behave, neither of you will sleep with me tonight—only Sindri," he declared.
Reluctantly, they agreed to set aside their quarrel, though Meld scowled as she fell into formation. Following Elk's lead, they devised a strategy to confront the enigmatic beast.
With a flash of electricity, Meld charged forward, her body blurring as she channeled her speed magic. Her fists crackled with raw power as she hurtled towards the beast, her aura intensifying. She struck it with a force that echoed across the crater, sending the creature staggering back, its crimson eyes blazing with fury.
