I Know You

The Presentation

It was the day of presentation for our collages and portraits. What do you present exactly? Well we present the new things we've learnt about our partner.

I go get ready and eat breakfast. Trey is brushing his teeth when I ask "Are we picking up Hamzah today?" "You already know my answer." Trey says.

Okay well this time I wasn't so mad about it because we needed to rehearse what we were going to say for the presentation.

We get in the car. The order is Trey always drives, Hamzah in the passenger seat, and I'm in the second row. But for the first time it changed.

We see Hamzah get out of his house and Hamzah opens the door for the second row. He sits next to me when Trey asks " hey man why aren't you sitting up here?" Hamzah says we need to practice for our presentation."

Hamzah breaks the silence saying "okay so do we start it by saying what I learned about my partner is blah blah blah?" I say "yes exactly with a smile."
He smiles back saying "okay got it."

"Well are you gonna say you learned that I'm the coolest and most handsome guy in school" he says. "In your dreams" I said with a chuckle.

Trey says "that's all you guys needed to practice? You could've done it up here?" Me and Hamzah look at each other with a smile. Hamzah says "my bad man i thought it would take longer." "Just don't do anything back there." Trey says.

Hamzah's arm is pushed up next to mine because of how little space we had. It was kinda awkward but a friendly awkward. Not so hostile anymore. We were okay.

Trey sees the time "Oh crap it's 8:30, I gotta speed up guys, hold on tight." As we meet a sharp turn I shift and lean closer to Hamzah. "Woah! Sorry!" I say awkwardly. Hamzah smiles and twitches his nose.

He always used to twitch his nose when he was embarrassed. It was funny. Then with another sharp turn Hamzah crashes next to me and his nose twitches so much as he gets up. "Sorry, TREY SLOW DOWN!" He yells infront of him.

"Okay man, jeez should've sat up here with me your best friend.." Trey says. "Shut up " Hamzah says with a grin. We get to school and get ready for our first period, art.

We sit next to our partners getting ready to present. As we watch the presenters I lay my head down and glance at Hamzah, he was staring at me. I said "what's wrong?" He said "nothing just making sure you don't sleep before we present, we're next.

Mrs. Stan calls "Evangeline and Hamzah you're up!"
I look at Hamzah with a scared look and he looks back at me with a reassuring smile.

For our project I learned that Hamzah likes otters, pizza, and the color blue.

For our project I learned that Evan loves Faye Webster, the color purple, and sushi.

Mrs. Stan says"Wonderful!! Next is Jessica and Diana!"

We were so relieved at the end. Hamzah whispers "hey you did really good." I whisper "thanks so did you."

We hear the bell ring and walk out. I see Mr. Hemming and look straight at Hamzah. Hamzah's eyes widen and smiles at me. He pretends to cough but then makes a fart sound.

We giggle and turn around once Mr. Hemming looks behind him. Mr. Hemming said "who was that, I swear if it is Evangeline Beker that will be a detention!"

I look at Hamzah was my heart drops. Hamzah start laughing and grabs my hand. We sprint away as Mr. Hemming says "HEY!" Once we've lost him we catch our breath and I realize Hamzah is still holding my hand.

I bring it up to his attention and he says "oh!" And let's go. He tries to cover up this nose twitching. Maybe Hamzah was okay?

Then I meet with Diana. "Hey Diana" I say. "Heyy how are you?" Im good! "What's your next class?" I ask."Physics"Diana answers "ooo goodluck let me know how it goes" I say.

"Also guess what" I said. "What?!" Diana asks.
"I think me and Hamzah are friends.??" I say. "Girl be careful you knew how he was."she says. "I know Diana but he really seems fine now.?" "

Okay well you guys did seem cute together when you were doing the presentation." Diana said. "Stop don't say that...but Hamzah is cute it's js I can't shake off how he acted towards me before." "There is no way in hell I'd ever catch feelings for Hamzah." I firmly stated. "Whatever you say"Diana says. I glare at her seeing that she doesn't believe me.

We part ways and go through all our classes. We drive and drop of Hamzah. He says bye Trey and Evan... geline. He smiles and I wave at him. I go home and do the rest of my homework.
