Summer has been going by in a blink of an eye. Its already mid-July and Hamzah and I have not progressed one bit. I mean we look at each other and have kissed and feel the same way about each other but nothing has changed.
Im not Hamzah's girlfriend and Hamzah's not my boyfriend. Maybe I'll just have to wait. To take my mind off of it, I think about the fun we're gonna have today. We're going to the beach!
I love the beach. The fresh saltwater, the breeze, the warm sand, the sea shells. Just everything about it makes me forget all the things going wrong in my life. Im so excited, I've already planned everything I'm going to do.
Beach To Do List:
- Play Volleyball.
-Play Catch
-Listen to Music
-Swim
-Eat
-Make Sandcastles
- Dig a hole
- Put Trey in the holeI get changed and go to the living room. I see my mom with bags that could last us a week at the beach. "Mom we're only staying for a day, why do we need all these bags?" I say while snickering at her.
"Leane, you just have to be prepared." Mom says. "For what the apocalypse?" I ask. "Leane! Just help me put these in the car." Mom says. "Okay okay sorry I will." I say.
I take the bags to the car. I hear mom yelling for strep to help out with her hoarding.. "Momm its fine I got it!" I say. No answer, so I just continue to stuff these bags in the back. Then I hear someone behind me"Hey do you need help?" Hamzah asks.
I look behind and see Hamzah, holding the trunk open over me. "Oh hey Hamzah, yeah can you get that red bag over there?" I ask. I didnt even know he slept over. Huh must've slept really early then.
"Sorry it's so much, moms preparing for the apocalypse or something." I say. Hamzah snickers and it feels good to make him laugh cause he's one of the funniest people I know.
"So are you excited to go to the beach." He asks trying to spark conversation. "Oh yeah for sure, I have a whole idea of what I'm gonna do." I say. "Man I forgot how much of a organizing freak you are." He says.
"Man shut up." I say while pushing him away jokingly. He smiles and smirks at me. "You need to stop doing that." I say. "Doing what?" He asks. "Looking at me like that." I say. "I can't help it Evan." He says.
I look back at him and get cut off by mom and Trey coming through. "Okay so we're all good? Didnt leave anything behind?" Mom asks. "Yess mom." I say. "Okay great let's get going.
Hamzah looks back at me before entering the car. I get into the car and just feel the tension. Anyways it was only a 20 minute drive. So it will end soon.
I sleep on my moms shoulder and get awoken by her tapping me. "We're here." Mom says. I look up and see the beach's water gleaming.
I quickly get out of the car. I help out to bring out our bags. I follow Trey and Hamzah to our spot on the sand. I breathe in the fresh saltwater air and soak up this moment.
We set up our blankets and umbrellas. Once we settled Trey asks if we can make sand castles. "I'm down." Hamzah says. They look at me, waiting for an answer. "Yeah sure." I say.
"Let's go get some water come on." Hamzah says. "Okay let's go." I say while picking up my bucket. Once we start walking, Trey leaves us behind and starts running.
Hamzah looks at me and smiles and starts running. I chase after them, trying to show that I was as fast as when we were little. I rush through and we get to the ocean.
