After the weekend, that Monday Maddy went to school dressed in a thick turtle neck and a jacket to hide the bruising she had on her neck.
She had passed out from the heat and the dehydration from not drinking anything over the weekend. When she paramedics checked her they saw the bruising on her neck and started pulling people out of class who knew Maddy and Nate and people who they knew for a fact were at the carnival.
Lana was in the office with principal hayes, "I don't know what happened with Maddy." Lana told him, "Were with her or Nate at all over the weekend?" Principal hayes asked
"Yeah, I saw Maddy at the carnival and I took her home and stayed for a few hours before I went home myself." Lana said, which wasn't technically a lie it just wasn't the full truth.
"And Nate? Did you see him?" Principal hayes asked. Lana hesitated, "Lana, whatever you say won't leave this room unless it has something to do with the bruising on Maddy's neck."
"Yeah, I saw Nate, I went to his family's booth to get chili and I talked to him for a few minutes." Lana said

Lana was at lunch with rue and Jules. She had been hanging out with two a little more, Nate and his parents walked by with cops.
Nate and Lana locked eyes which has been a very common thing with the two lately, "Okay. One, what was that about? Two, can we talk about the fact that you fucked Nate's dad?" Rue said
"You fucked Nate's dad?" Lana looked at the blond shocked, "Rue, Lana, swear to God, like on your life's that you will never tell anyone." Jules leaned between them as she whispered
"That you fucked Nate's dad?" Rue asked, "I'm serious. This is like... Even if one or both of you decide you hate me one day. Like, you can never tell anyone." Jules said
"Why would I ever hate you?" Rue asked "That's not the point. Seriously, this is some go-to-your-grave shit." Jules looked at the two, "I promise." Rue said. Jules looked at Lana, "Promise." Lana said
"Do you think Nate knows?" Rue asked, "No. Why would Nate know?" Jules spoke softly "I don't know, you went up to the chili booth at the carnival, did he look like he knew?" Rue asked
"No, like, literally, like I didn't even notice." Jules said "Nate's scary. The whole fucking family is scary." Rue said
