Shikamaru Nara's life had forever been changed upon meeting Asami.
Who knew that the girl with the book and the glasses would be one of the most influential people he would ever know?
Because of her, he had more than just his parents, Choji, and Ino.
Because of her, he now had Naruto and Sasuke.
But most of all, because of Asami, he had a friendship with a girl who would do anything to keep the people she loved safe.
And so, in return, he would do the same.
He would watch out for Sasuke and Naruto. Make sure they ate what they brought for lunch. Made sure they didn't stress about school. Made sure they socialized. Made sure they were safe.
And most of all he would protect her.

Sasuke Uchiha was depressed.
And was forced to visit Inoichi Yamanaka every Tuesday.
It turns out that when your pseudo-sister is best friends with a Nara, you don't get to say no to therapy.
So here he was, sat with the older man, arms crossed and a glare on his face.
Inoichi looked completely unaffected.
Sasuke sighed in annoyance.
Inoichi smirked.
What the fuck kind of therapist was this dude?
"A good one." Inoichi said aloud, as if reading his thoughts.
Sasuke glowered deeper.
Inoichi pulled out a notebook. "Let's get started, shall we?"

It took 3 months before Sasuke finally cried.
Therapy was hard.
But it was worth it.
He hated it when Asami was right.

Shikamaru adored Asami.
Which obviously meant that Chouji and Ino had to meet her.
They were going to be his teammates, after all.
