TW: Mention of miscarriage, heavily implied parental death

.................

"A Mother loves right from the start.

She holds her baby close to her heart.

The bond that grows will never falter.

Her love is so strong it will never alter.

A Mother gives never ending Love.

She never feels that she has given enough.

For you she will always do her best.

Constantly working, there's no time to rest.

A Mother is there when things go wrong.

A hug and a kiss to help us along.

Always there when we need her near.

Gently wipes our eyes when we shed a tear.

So on this day shower your Mother with Love.

Gifts and presents are nice but that is not enough.

Give your Mother a day to have some peace of mind.

Be gentle, be good, be helpful, be kind.

Happy Mothers Day."

Hikaru nervously patted her dress down, fiddling with the lace edges of the sleeves.

"Second thoughts, sister?" Ai asked mockingly, smirking at her from the chair. Hikaru ignored her. She was only here out of obligation, after all.

"Nonsense, Ai." her brother, Konran, said. "It's much too late for that. She'll never get her inheritance now."

"Quite true. Mother and Father will never forgive her for marrying a civilian. Especially with her bad blood."

Hikaru rolled her eyes so hard she was afraid they'd get stuck. God, shinobi and their stupid stuck up rules. Just because she didn't have enough chakra to be a ninja didn't mean she was useless.

Knives are just as good of a weapon as jutsus are.

She couldn't wait to escape from this awful family. She swore to let her children be whoever they wanted to be, regardless of whether or not they were what this world viewed as worthy.

A knock sounded at the door, and the Funai siblings all turned in unison to see the butler standing there, looking down at them with narrowed eyes.

"It is time." Tomio said. As Ai and Konran exited, the man sent a secret wink her way, eyes twinkling.

Tomio was the only reason she'd survived growing up here. She would be sad to leave him.

But it was for the better.

She couldn't wait to be free.

...

Walking down the aisle to begin life with her one true love was a magical and enchanting moment.

Jiro was dressed in the traditional wedding outfit of a civilian, tears glistening in his eyes as he watched his future walk towards him.

Her parents were nowhere to be seen. Her siblings were only here to mock her choices.

Family is great, huh.

They sealed their vows with a kiss. And left to Jiro's family cheering for them and Hikaru's family glaring.

...

They decided to move to Konoha and open up a restaurant.

Rain Country was just no longer cutting it. The constant jeers were aggravating, and they were losing business because of it.

Besides...

This was no place to raise their first child.

...

Traveling while 6 months pregnant was awful.

Poor Jiro was suffering trying to keep her happy. But it wasn't working. It was too hot. Too humid. Too much of everything.

She hopes settling into Konoha won't take forever.

...

The restaurant was slow going, but it was going.

Slowly but surely they were getting regulars.

Hikaru was thrilled.

...

She gave birth to a son a month after the restaurant took off. They named him Makoto Natsume Himura.

Makoto for honesty and sincerity. A name Jiro's grandfather wore proudly. They hoped their son would do the same.

Natsume for Hikaru's favorite fruit.

They renamed the restaurant 4 months later, when Hikaru got pregnant again.

"The Little Himuras"

...

She lost the baby 3 months into the pregnancy.

She had never known grief like this before.

...

The years passed quickly, and soon Makoto was 4 years old and the cutest kid in the world.

When she found out she was pregnant once again... she cried rivers.

They hadn't tried to have another baby since they lost their angel.

And now she was pregnant again.

God. She prayed this baby would thrive.

...

Asami Sena Himura was born on March 20th.

They were officially a family of 4.

Life was beautiful.

...

Now she watches her little girl grow up from Heaven.

Watches her son try to balance a restaurant and 3 children.

She hates not being there for them. Not being able to hold them when they need to be held. To wipe their tears when they cry. To laugh with them. To take care of them.

To be there to support them as they fall in love.

She misses them so much.

"They're safe, my love." Jiro whispers, hugging her close. "They're thriving."

Being a mother was the most beautiful experience she'd ever got to have.

She was so glad God allowed her to see them grow up together.

And she couldn't wait to see them again, many many years from now.
