"The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
That stood in the open plain.
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest King,
But lived and died a scrubby thing.
The man who never had to toil,
By hand or mind mid life's turmoil
Who never had to win his share,
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man,
But lived and died as he began.
Good timber does not grow with ease;
The stronger wind, the tougher trees;
The farther the sky, the greater length;
The more the storm, the more the strength;
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In tree or man good timber grows.
Were thickest stands the forest growth,
We find the Patriarchs of both,
And they hold converse with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life."

"I am so done with D-ranks, you guys." Asami whined, putting her head onto the dinner table dramatically.
"But you're doing missions!" Naruto exclaimed. "You're being a ninja, Believe it!!"
Asami's eye twitched and Sasuke snorted as he watched her physically calm herself down before their brother ended up with a bump on his head.
"You're right, Naruto." she said, nodding. "This is what being a ninja is about."
She decided that he could find out for himself just what a d-rank mission was.
...
Asami loved children.
But sometimes they were utter monsters.
She huffed as she pried the toddler's hands from her hair for the fourth time, dodging a fist as he screamed in anguish.
Sigh.
Freaking d-ranks.
...
Kenji Soma watched in utter amusement as he handed them another mission, eyes twinkling knowingly.
