*The Next Day* Mon, August 14,2023 7:00am 📍 UWI Hospital
Being a nurse is so exhausted most times of the day from running from patients to patients and helping assisting people don't get me wrong I love what I do for my job but on the other hand it's very stressful especially working at-least 10 hours a week I barley even got time for myself anymore I'm just caught up in work. For the day I started identifying my most important tasks and creating a plan.
"Ms Morris they need you in room 45 right now!", I heard one of my coworkers.
Running to see what was the issue with the patient I saw that the patient needs oxygen because of his asthma and he was really having bad asthma attacks.
Being in this career can be scary most times especially losing a patient and I wouldn't want that happening on my watch.
After hooking up the oxygen so that my patient could calm down I started checking his oxygen status, listening to his lungs, assess for respiratory distress, positioning my patient upright and also prescribing him medications.
"Hello Good morning, I'm Ms Morris I would be your nurse for the rest of the day because your original nurse clock out early because of family emergencies", I informed and he nod.
"Good morning Ms Morris, is everything now good the other nurse told me you was taking over for her"
Realizing the persons voice sounds a bit familiar, I turned to face the patients guardian I was in a bit of a shock when I realized who it was for a second.
"Good morning Damian, I didn't know you were responsible for my patient today," I smiled looking at him.
"Yes he's my younger brother we checked in early this morning", he walked over to his brother to see if he was doing okay.
"Bro how you know the nurse already?"his brother asked suspiciously while laughing realizing I knew his name without him telling me.
"Don't question big man youth", he says playfully while pushing his head.
"He should get some rest", I said after finish checking the oxygen one last time.
"Can we talk outside?", he asked and we walked outside by his brother's room.
"How is your day?", he asked making eye contact with me.
"Well it's a bit stressful but I couldn't asked for worst, how is your day going?", I asked while tilting my head to look at him.
