IF THERE WAS ONE PERSON that Nadia could rely on more than her best friends, it was her housekeeper and godmother Mabel Williams. She practically took care of Nadia her whole life from when she lived in France to now living in Lima, Ohio. She's been there since the very beginning and Nadia didn't think she would ever leave her life.

Mabel was married with three kids. Her husband was a kind man and he was always making Nadia laugh with his humor. Nadia didn't know how Mabel balanced her life with Nadia and her family all while doing the same with her own family. But whenever Nadia's parents asked her if she needed help with anything, Mabel would always say no and that she had it handled.

Mabel was a strong woman and grew up in a strong family. She was like an angel. She never failed to get things done and always loved Nadia because she was like her daughter. No matter how bratty the girl got, Mabel still loved her because she knew it was only because her parents were gone for work, but she took care of Nadia and made sure she had everything she needed.

The Anthony girl was sitting in her living room with Mabel as they went through her wedding albums because Kurt had told Nadia that Burt and Carole were getting married, and of course, she was very excited about this because she loved weddings. "Okay. Oh, this was when me and David got married. This was 1975 when we got married. Right after we graduated college and then moved to Atlanta." Mabel explained to the young girl.

Nadia smiled at the pictures, her French nail tips running down the picture. "Mabel, you were a beautiful bride. Okay, Miss Ma'am. You better work." Nadia chuckled as did Mabel.

"David said the same thing the night we got married." Mabel laughed before flipping the page. "This is when we jumped the broom."

"Was it love at first sight for you guys?" Nadia questioned, looking up from the pictures and at her godmother.

"I never told you the story of how we met, did I?" Mabel wondered, Nadia shook her head. "Well, we were five years old when we met in Lafayette, New Orleans. I didn't like him and he didn't like me either. I was eating lunch one day at school with my friends and he came over there and stuck gum in my hair."

Nadia's eyes widened slightly. "What? He did that?"

"Yes, he did. And then I stood up and went to his table. Mind you I had on my good shit. My white shoes and my white pants with a bright pink shirt, my hair was done in a beautiful style, I was looking fabulous, darling." Mabel explained to her, Nadia just smiled and nodded. "I went over to his table and slapped the shit out of him for putting that gum in my hair."

Nadia let out a laugh. "Mabel, you slapped him?"

"Oh, yes I did. Slapped him silly." Mabel replied with a laugh. "He liked to be a little class clown and mess with me, so I took my chance and slapped him silly."

"Then what happened?"

"He continued to taunt me and I continued to hit him. And then we met again in college when I tell you that man was so handsome, he had every girl in school falling in love with him. But at the time I was already seeing someone else who was so kind and generous to me. But I just started to fall in love with David over time because of how sweet he was to me even when I hit him all those times and he taunted me too."
