Derek POV
"Derek, I'm tired." Stiles groaned out.

"Well you're gonna have to deal with it. Your training isn't done yet."

"You don't make the rest of the pack train this much!" He complained.

"They did when they were first bitten." I said, listening to a whine crawl out his mouth.

"Follow this path around the woods. It'll take you back to my old house. Let's see how fast you can run." I said, pulling out a stop watch.

"You're not coming with me are you?" He asked sadly.

"Nope. I'll be waiting on the porch." I said.

He groaned, "Fine." I pressed the button as he took off.

I hate seeing him so miserable but he has to do this. Everyone in the pack has done it, hell, my father made me do it. I just wish he'd stop complaining and realize I'm not being a dick for the fun of it.

Stiles POV
I hate running. I run in lacrosse and that's all the running I need in my life. I don't get why Derek can't just teach me how to control my shift and then pretend like I'm not a werewolf. Pretend I'm normal human Stiles who almost died from dementia. Why is that to much to ask?

The impact of my feet hitting the ground shot up through my body. It wasn't a painful feeling but I knew I was getting tired. I paused to catch my breath for a moment when I heard something.

"Derek?" I called out. No response. "Seriously Der, this isn't funny." I looked around not seeing anything but the peek-a-boo effect the sunset had between the trees.

"Derek." Aggravation filling the air. Thats when I saw it. A set of glowing red eyes staring at me.

"D-Derek?" I quietly and slowly began backing up. The creature slowly started walking toward me. It was a full wolf, an alpha obviously, but on all fours as a wolf. Derek doesn't do that. I mean, he probably could...but he doesn't. And he wouldn't right now, not without me knowing he could. He's not that big of an asshole, is he?

The wolf was getting closer growling at me. "Good wolfie..." I wasn't hiding my fear even a little . "I'm just gonna.." I bolted in the direction I came from.

"Derek!" I screamed, making it back to the Hale house.

"You didn't do the whole trail, Stiles." He said not looking up from his book.

"Derek!" I yelled again, turning to see the wolf had followed me. Derek sighed and looked up.

I felt him pull me back, he pushed me behind him letting his claws out and growling at the wolf.

The wolf turned back into human. "Funny you think that scares me, Derek." The man laughed.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Derek growled. His hand was gripping onto me making sure I stayed behind him.

"Just came to have a little bit of fun."

"You know Beacon Hills is Hale territory." Derek said.

"Yes. And I know that most of the Hale's are no longer around-sorry for your loss-but that doesn't mean you should get to keep this whole town to yourself." He feigned remorse.

"Get the fuck out of my town or I'll tear you apart the same way my father killed yours." Derek's grip tightened on me.

"Der..."

"Derek, my dear old friend, how fantastic would it be if...oh I don't know..I killed him. This boy behind you, your mate?" A smirk plastered across his face as he let out a chuckle.

"You touch a single hair on his head and I'll rip your entire pack to shreds you got that!?" Derek yelled.

"We'll see about that." And then the wolf shifted and ran off.

"Derek, let go." I said, pushing on his hand. He went from gripping my shirt to my wrist in a matter of seconds during the argument. As he got angrier, his grip got stronger.

"Shit, I'm sorry, baby." He said letting go, rubbing at it gently.

"Who was that?"

"Gavin Mortem." Derek growled, pulling me into a hug. "Stay the hell away from him."
